I contacted Tim and Pitta Tours about finding a Flammulated Owl to photograph. I booked two nights with Tim, per his advice just in case one night didn't produce the results I might like. Tim said if I am happy with the first night, I would only have to pay for that one evening tour. On the first night, Tim led me to three owls that I photographed, and we heard several more. The second night we heard more than a dozen Flammies, but they were staying out of sight. Sometimes nature doesn't give us what we want, but I noticed that Tim didn't give up until we saw a Flammy. He kept searching for owls from one spot to the next because he didn't want to let me down. That kind of dedication, in addition to his expertise in finding birds, is why you should hire Tim as your guide with full confidence, because he will deliver.
Before dark, he also found American Three-toed Woodpecker, Black Swift, White-throated Swift as well as other local birds. Tim is a friendly, engaging guide who offers a friendly manner that puts his clients at ease and allows them to have a great time.
I would hire Tim any time for any tour. I recommend Tim Avery and Pitta Tours with full confidence because of his dedication to helping his clients meet their goals, his expertise in knowing and finding birds, and genial manner.

We booked 2 nights with Tim and our goal was to shoot flammulated owls. Despite challenging weather/windy circumstances Tim worked really hard to find us owls and we got amazing shots the 2nd day and we heard tons of flammys. Also love the souvenirs he gave us! Highly recommend

My friend and I highly enjoyed our wonderful birding trip with Pitta Tours while doing the Salt Lake Birding Festival. We started early in the morning and went late into the evening. If you want to see birds and have fun, this is the company for you. We had four wonderful guides who helped us see as many birds as possible in 18 hours while we were in Salt Lake City. I would highly recommend Tim Avery and his company if you are into birding, you can’t go wrong.

Once again, Tim and Pitta Tours deliver! This year we did a private tour with Tim and it was well worth the cost. We submitted a list of birds we wanted to see prior to the tour and Tim located about 85% of the birds on our list. Especially good for us was a Pine Grosbeak, a Blue Grosbeak, a Green Tailed Towhee and a Three-toed Woodpecker. The final crowning glory was two Flammulated Owls at 11 at night up in the Wasatch Mtns: simply incredible! Birding with Tim is just a world-class experience; can't say enough!

Spent a day doing Marathon birding with Pitta Nature Tours in the Salt Lake area with Mike Hearell as guide. Tour was partially connected to SLC Bird Festival as the traditional marathon day during the festival booked up in minutes..maybe seconds. Owner Tim Avery went out of his way to arrange an additional event to accomodate those of us who missed out on the original tour. Mike was a great guide taking us all over the northern SLC region seeing large numbers of birds and some pretty incredible vistas. Ended with awesome looks at the Flammulated Owl as it flew around us on a moon lit night. Absolutely worth your time and money.

I would highly recommend the owl tour if you're keen on flammulated owls. Tim is a plethora of knowledge about flammulated owls, and our tour got us excellent views and very good numbers. Besides being knowledgeable and professional, Tim is a nice guy and enjoyable to bird with.

The Ruby Mountains of Nevada and the Albion Mountains of Idaho were the highlights of the trip for me. Tim brought I and two other participants to multiple locations over the four days and we had excellent birds everywhere we stopped in Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. On top of that, the scenery, Tim's sense of humor, and the meals were excellent. I look forward to birding with Tim at some point in the future. I highly recommend him.

My wife and I were in Utah for the first time. It was Saturday with one last day to explore when my wife found Pitta Tours on-line. We e-mailed to see if there was any chance that we could go Sunday. Tim responded and arranged a trip with another family. We were super excited to try and see a Flammulated Owl in nature. Tim took us to a remote and beautiful location. We had tried before on our own without success. However, Tim is amazing and led us right to them. We spotted a couple different owls! This happened because Tim is an amazing guide, who is knowledgeable, personably, and professional. Tours depend entirely on the guide. I would go anywhere with Tim leading the way, he knows his stuff!

My wife and I did the Mountain Tour a few days ago, and it was fantastic: beautiful landscapes, great company, and birds, lots and lots of birds! We saw more than 80+ different species; I add a ed more than 19 new birds to my Life List!
Tim was simply incredible! His knowledge and birding skills were unbelievable: finding birds, calling birds, identifying birds, and giving you great background info. He's also just a fun guy with a great personality.
Even though it was unseasonably hot (102 F in lower parts of Wyoming) we had a truly great experience! We wholeheartedly recommend Tim and Pitta Tours; you won't regret it!

I did a one night tour for Flammulated Owl with Tim of Pitta tours and it was Amazing! I have looked for this Owl over the course of several years on my own and with other guides to no avail. Tim was extremely professional, personable, kind, and funny. His Owling experience is extraordinary. I had a wonderful night hearing eleven Flammulated’s calling and we got to see two separate individuals in different locations with jaw dropping views! It was an Amazing experience. If Flammulated Owl is on your most wanted list I would book a tour with Tim immediately.
