This site is not open except by appointment. I took my 2 grandsons there yesterday and was very disappointed to find it closed with a sign saying where to call.

The main room is beautiful, vaulted ceiling, lots of copper work, and many fine examples of Elwah/S'Klallam artwork. This is often used as a meeting venue, and they also sometimes have demonstrations, such as drumming circles. The staff is welcoming and there is much to be learned. This center is designed to do some job training and education, and seems to be working very well.

Native artifacts on display and beautiful artwork is featured. The art stands alone and is also incorporated in the architecture.

This is a small but wonderful museum about the history of the Elwha culture in Port Angeles, Washington. It is in two parts: first the artifacts from a significant village 2700 years old, and second, a special exhibit about the removal of two hydroelectric dams on the Elwha river and the subsequent restoration of the river. It can easily be seen in 45 minutes. It is free and there is no gift shop - refreshing !

We were looking forward to visiting the center, but upon arrival, a posted sign said that the gift shop is closed as of June 4. Also, the museum was hosting a private event and that part was closed also. Very disappointed!

Worth the visit for a loo a very local indigence culture. The tribe has put a lot of effort into this nice shop just an easy two block walk east from down town. Stretch you legs after the ferry ride.Walk back to down tow on Front St. nice Harbour views and a feel for whee the "Hog Back" was sliced, to fill in old Down Town streets in the early 1900's to keep from flooding during high tides. (whoo-hoo, local history, for you buffs.)

This is a small but interesting museum, very important to experience, as Native American presence is critical to this area, & should be part of every visitor's focus. There's art here, & artifacts, in a beautiful setting. Gift shop, too.

This is the most popular store to purchase Native American art and souvenirs that are of high quality and reasonably priced.
