About
The Olympic Coast Discovery Center on the Port Angeles waterfront is a great place to begin your learning adventures on the Olympic Coast. It has information for the whole family about marine conservation, the animals and habitats of the Olympic Coast, and the part you play in protecting our marine environment. Trained Discovery Center staff and dedicated volunteers will provide detailed information on where to hike, where to see whales, the best views or secluded beaches. You'll get road distances and driving times, and tips for getting the most out of your visit. You will also learn about the history of exploration of the Olympic Coast and the many tools that researchers use to understand the underwater landscapes, living communities and ocean processes that make Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary the ecological treasure it is.

    Small but mighty.
The staff are very helpful and knowledgable. The exhibits are new and engaging. There is a great video submersible simulator for kids to try. Some skulls and pelts to get a closer look at. This is not to be confused with the Fiero Marine Science centre which actually has the aquariums and touch tanks. No living creatures here. Upstairs in the "mall" beside the ferry. I saw other interesting exhibits on marine debris, shipwrecks and the other national marine sanctuaries. Worth a look-see.

    Loved it!
This place is..... awesome! I loved the trash part of the room, it was really educational and fun. The submarine movie was cool, and I loved the seats, it was like you were on it! Nice place to go! Loved it and will go back if ever in Port Angeles again. Anyone with a family, or a love of the ocean. This is a MUST!

Not open despite a sign showing the day and hours as being open. Took my grandsons and was very disappointing. There was no sign to indicate why it wasn’t open.

Interesting for anyone who would like to see an improvement in the way we care for our natural surroundings. Lots of pretty pictures and a great display of things that have been pulled out of the waters on the sound.

Visited on a Saturday and enjoyed talking to the staff. Learned a lot about their protected area and would love to spend more time there in the future.

We wondered into this fascinating museum and really enjoyed the interpretive narrative by the volunteer. The displays were kid friendly, easy to read and very, very interesting. Well worth the stop to get a better sense of our pacific coast.

We looked around, and all of the kids were having a blast, from tots to middle school-age, with an emphasis on the youngest ones.
It was not free, but we got an eyeful enough to realize it was an interactive kiddo's dream experience.

Small but packed with history and information, and the volunteer gentleman who was the only staff person there was attentive and knowledgeable about everything that was shown. Though it was crowded at times, he made sure to greet everyone and to answer all questions asked of him. Because of the electronic touch-screens, there was an unusual amount of information that was available in a confined space. I was impressed, and you will be, too, if you take the time to make use of those touch-screens. We...my lady and me...stayed for close to forty-five minutes. It was worth it to us. Unfortunately, the 'mini-sub' simulator was down...the projectors needed replacing, otherwise, we'd have stayed for over an hour.

Most of us never see what lies below the surface of the water. Here you can see many of the inhabitants that reside in local waters like shrimp, sea cucumbers, scallops, cod, an octopus, as well as crabs and sea stars...even microscopic ones. It's worth a visit and very family friendly.
