Great way to get off the island

It does what it says on the tin. A no frills ferry which is a great way to get into Washington State. Restaurant and shop available.

Black ball was a great choice to take up to Victoria for an overnight trip. Interesting boat. Friendly crew. Comfortable seating. Spotted porpoises, sea lions and sea otters on the way back. Easy walk on and off both ways. No need for a car, as Victoria is so walkable, and many options for transport. We stayed in the Hotel Grand... More

The staff are amazing at getting everyone (including semi trucks loaded with lumber and large RVs) all loaded onto and off the ferry. Despite traveling on two sunny and calm days, because this ferry crosses the inlet that leads to the open ocean, we experienced a very noticeable side to side motion on both directions that we took this ferry... We were travelling Easter weekend and the bookings were mostly full. We were travelling without much of an agenda so it was almost last minute and we were lucky to get a spot. The crossing was lovely as it leaves from the Inner Harbour in Victoria and then across the strait to Port Angeles.

While planning our trip itinerary from Seattle, WA to Victoria, BC, I forgot to book a ferry reservation until about two weeks before we left. By then, the 12:45 pm ferry (the one we preferred) was booked, so we booked the 5:20 pm, but planned to try first come first serve for the 12:45 pm. We barely made it on... More

My wife and walked onto the 12:45 Sunday to Victoria. For $78 round-trip, we spent the day in Victoria. Boat was clean and in good shape. Crew was friendly and boarding was hassle free. Definitely worth it. It is a gorgeous ride over and back.

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would give the M. V. Coho ferry less than an excellent rating. I have ridden this ferry at least twenty five times and have always been very satisfied with the experience. The ferry is always clean, well maintained and always on time. There were a couple of times when the... More

Very organized staff. Suggest those not use to the rocking/rolling of a ferry take something before their trip to Victoria B.C. as it was a little rough. Dress warm if you plan on being outside on the decks. Inside very comfortable.
