About Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is Macon's original and locally-owned canoe and kayak rental service for the Ocmulgee River. The Ocmulgee is gorgeous and you'll get to see its beauty and a view of Macon you don't see from any other way than from the river as it winds through town. If you choose a canoe or kayak, we have two float trips to choose from that showcase the beauty of the river and provide lots of fun for everyone. The Half Day Adventure meets at the Amerson River Park, while the Quick Float meets meet at the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail parking lot. For either trip, you leave your car at the take out so it will be waiting for you when you finish and ride our shuttle to the put in. You'll float past woods and the historic Rose Hill Cemetery on the Quick Float, while the Half Day adventure has the thrill of Class 1 rapids. OOE provides boats, paddles and life jackets and makes it easy for you. Also, overnight camping trips are available and we'll shuttle private boats, too.

My first time in a kayak and can't wait to go again. Oliver was our guide and Kathleen, the owner, were so knowledgeable about the river and the surrounding area. We did Max's Favorite Float. Kathleen allowed me to bring my 20lb dog along and she had a great time too! It was nice to have everything taken care of i.e. the kayaks/paddles along with pickup and drop off. I highly recommend OOE.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! Oliver and I enjoyed hosting you, your sister, and Susie Q. She was the most chill dog ever and is welcome back anytime. Appreciate your business and that you took the time to leave this review. Hope to see all three of you again this year.

Kathleen and her team were great! The Pope's class 1 was an easy and relaxing float, perfect for a morning expedition. Trip from ATL was a breeze, we'll be returning for sure for the Escape the Maddening Crowds excursion.

Thank you for such a lovely review! We had a great time hosting y'all and appreciate your making the (easy) drive from Atlanta to explore and paddle the Ocmulgee with us. I'm so glad you plan to return for the Escape from the Madding Crowd as it is by far the prettiest stretch. Looking forward to seeing y'all on the Ocmulgee again soon.

Went with a group on one of Ocmulgee’s trips. Trip was good, but had a troubling side. One employee (Kelly) concerned me, she kept muttering “we are all going to die” over and over. The equipment and safety precautions seemed appropriate so I was puzzled. Other than that, they seemed to do a good job, but would not go back with an employee like that.

Hey, I am so sorry that you had this experience on on of my trips, especially since there is no employee named Kelly at Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions. I believe you were on the Full Moon Float? There was a customer with her own boat on that trip with that name who uses our shuttle service often and she may have helped the staff move boats down the ramp at the put in, but she is not an employee and I am very sorry if she told you that she was or if you got that impression. My goal is to provide my customers with a wonderful time on the Ocmulgee and I am sorry that you did not enjoy your trip.
