About
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is Macon's original and locally-owned canoe and kayak rental service for the Ocmulgee River. The Ocmulgee is gorgeous and you'll get to see its beauty and a view of Macon you don't see from any other way than from the river as it winds through town. If you choose a canoe or kayak, we have two float trips to choose from that showcase the beauty of the river and provide lots of fun for everyone. The Half Day Adventure meets at the Amerson River Park, while the Quick Float meets meet at the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail parking lot. For either trip, you leave your car at the take out so it will be waiting for you when you finish and ride our shuttle to the put in. You'll float past woods and the historic Rose Hill Cemetery on the Quick Float, while the Half Day adventure has the thrill of Class 1 rapids. OOE provides boats, paddles and life jackets and makes it easy for you. Also, overnight camping trips are available and we'll shuttle private boats, too.

Can not say enough good things about our trip! Honestly, I don't know if Madison (our guide) and Goose (her dog) dialed up the weather... but it was perfect. We had a great time and they were super accommodating for us! It was awesome.

Great guide, beautiful river. Well worth the trip. It was a great experience overall. The guides really know their stuff and love what they do. Both my sons came and my 8 year old went on a tandem kayak with his dad. Highly recommend.

Beautiful night for a full moon kayaking adventure on the Ocmulgee River, Juliette, Georgia. The Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions guides were great. The kayaks were well maintained, stable and comfortable.

My fiancee and I had visited before and were so impressed that when we decided to host a 2 day "weekend wedding adventure" we knew we wanted guest to have this experience; so to close out the weekend, 18 of our guest paddled off into a new adventure while we paddled off into our NEW BEGINNING as husband and wife! Katherine and her crew are knowledgeable, professional, friendly and we're the perfect host!

I was so thrilled when you told me that you wanted to bring your wedding guests down the Ocmulgee with OOE! It was an honor to host you and your groom and all your family and friends and to be part of the wedding celebration weekend. We loved it.

I am so impressed with Ocmulgee Outdoors Expeditions. From Kathleen, the owner, to Vance & Hunt, tour guides, and Jennifer, who shares bus-driving duties with Kathleen, I felt welcomed from the moment of arrival to leaving after the trip. I knew nothing to speak of about kayaking prior to going on my first trip. Kathleen didn't just make general suggestions, but gave me very real tips and corrections, all with the intent of me getting the most out of my trip. Because of that, on my second trip with them, I was actually able to put her teachings into action and truly enjoyed my time on the river. They love the river and it shows in everything they do. I will be back again!

If you’ve ever been curious about kayaking but don’t now where to start, start here!
Kathleen and Vance were absolutely fantastic! They’re knowledgeable, safety oriented, and took the time to make us feel comfortable on the water. Transportation to and from the put-in/out was provided and made things very convenient. Max’s Favorite Float is tame and relaxing with a lot of natural beauty to enjoy.
They’ll definitely see us again!
Tip: Weekend excursions can get a bit crowded. If you’re looking for a more personalized or one on one experience, book on a weekday.

Our mother grew up on the Ocmulgee in the 40's, living at the old Power plant ( on the river ), in Macon. Her stories gave my sister and I, such richness of the Ocmulgee
So spending a day on the beautiful Ocmulgee, was made super special with Kathleen, her staff's logistics, informative knowledge of river, and safety.
We had so much fun and hope to return next year!
Highly recommend floating the Ocmulgee with "Ocmulgee Outdoors Expeditions"!!!

We had such a wonderful time viewing the river through your eyes and the eyes of your mother! History came to life. Thank you for sharing her with us and especially learning about her life in Macon and at the Arkwright Power Plant. I've enjoyed her poetry, too.

We took the full moon tour. This is first class outdoor fun. By far the best canoe experience I've ever had. This company puts safety first & foremost. They love what they do and it shows. Recommend a thousand times!
