This museum is part zoo, part scientific exploration, part artist exhibit as well as immersion . . . our family was aged 23-80 and we all loved it! We saw young children enjoying themselves as well. They have exhibits you can touch and interact with, a light room that creates movement murals, beautiful and moving art pieces on display, places to create your own art and my favorite—the animals! Say hello to pretty girl Georgia the parrot . . . and they even have lemurs!

We stayed overnight in Macon on our way to Florida. Looking for things to do, we saw a flyer for the museum. It's a bit small, but has a lot of hands on things for children and a variety of exhibits. We specifically went because of the planetarium. It was a good show and certainly a value at less than $20 for two of us. Senior rates kick in a age 62.

My daughter and I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon and there were only a few other families there. My daughter got to explore pretty much everything she wanted without having to wait. There was quite a bit to explore here. However several of the exhibits were broken in the downstairs area. My daughter did have a lot of fun there. We even got to see a short animal show.

A fun few hours for kids. My 7 and 10 year old had about 2 hours of fun touching and exploring. The planetarium seemed cool, but it was 90% a video on dinosaurs, and 10% a man talking to us about some stars and planets. It was a cool movie watching experience (on the dome in the ceiling), but not the best planetarium.

Planned as a half way point for myself from TN to meet my sister from FL for our "Sista'cation". The Planetarium was the highlight. One notch above the Pan African American Festival and much cooler..It maybe good for smaller children. The front desk staff was not welcoming but not disrespectful.. Macon will not be one of my return to visit choices..

Our son, at 9, was a little old for a lot of the museum: The science activities on the lower level are really for younger kids & are in dire need of maintenance (puzzle pieces missing, magnetic pens missing from boards, etc.) The live animals are interesting & seem to be well cared for. Upstairs, without a tour group leader as I'm assuming some school groups have, there was mostly an opportunity to color, nothing else. Again, supplies needed attention & restocking. The dream experience is worth doing - interesting, but may be scary for little ones. The art gallery to the right as you enter was terrific - lots to see. To the left was a special exhibit on local comic book artists - interesting. We didn't get a chance to see the planetarium. If you only have a short time in Macon, see the Tubman Museum or the Ocmulgee Monument instead.

We have an annual family pass here every year. It’s a great place to go, especially on a day where you need to be indoors, even outdoors! Lots of stuff for the kids to see and do, even a nature trail outside. The animal shows and planetarium shows are fun!

We ended up here because it was recommended by the Macon Visitor Center. We had a very good time but it is more geared towards people with children. We enjoyed the displays and went to see a reptile man. All in all a very good day. I recommend this place if you have young children.

There is a large parking lot that would have room for an RV.
