This is a moderate walk and worth the time. The area is lovely with waterfalls. I did use the offered walking poles. Crossing the stream was daunting for some members of our group so they didn't go all the way to the edge of the glacier. I do recommend doing that if you are able because the views are much... More

Great walk, well maintained track, interesting information panels. Nice that there are no shops and people trying to sell ice creams and tee shirts at the Glacier

The small towns of Franz Josef and Fox have accommodations, restaurants, etc. Either one we can use as base to explore both glaciers conveniently (it takes half an hour or 26 km from Franz Josef to Fox). Both glaciers have retracted significantly so be prepared for longer walks to get close (in fact, not even close) to the glaciers. The... More

Take the time to walk the well maintained track from the carpark to the glacier face. The track is marked, a moderate walk and takes about 1 hr 40 mins to complete and return. The view of the glacier is worth the walk. Carpark is 4km from the township of Franz Josef. We went in winter and were lucky with... More

Did a road trip with some friends, and this place was worth a stop. We walked about 30-40 minutes up towards the glacier and could see the snowy top from the lookout. Cool experience and don't cost you anything.

We went in the pouring rain and it was still worth the hike to see the glacier face. Trails were well marked for safety and easy to follow. The visitor center staff were helpful in selecting a weather appropriate trail. Bathrooms are limited but onsite.

Lifetime experience not to be missed. We were going to do the heli hike but windy conditions did not favor hiking in the glacier, so we did the 30 mins heli tour and touch down on glacier. Fantastic experience!

This was well worth the 1hour 30 minute walk, beautiful scenery and lots of factual information. Sadly the Glazier is disappearing further away. Definitely worth seeing😊

What a great place, if only we could see lol. The rain was horrendous but this didn't stop us. We came here twice, and rained both times, but on the 3rd we were given a glorious view
