Most people haven't seen glaciers and will never see one. That because almost all glaciers are quite inaccessible being at an extremely high altitude or near the polar regions. Franz josef is one of the most accessible glaciers of the world and it is a...More

this is a walk for many age groups we ranged from 8 to 52 it's a 6 km walk return and it's well worth a look at a glazier that may not have a lot longer to be seen

Since I stopped and took pictures and rest, it took me 2.5 hours which was supposed to be 1.5 hr walk. That day the glacier was reported to be 700m away. The scenery was impeccable and awesome. Especially on a clear sunny day: the minerals...More

Although the glacier is retreating, it is still very impressive. The way things are going though, it won't last forever. Walk up to the view of the base to see for yourself what we are doing to our planet!

Easy little walk up to a viewing point. Suitable for all. You don't get very close but it's still beautiful. If you want a more exciting walk after there are plenty well signposted accessible from the same car park

From arrival to the center until return was a very professional safety driven experience. Dare I mention a helicopter flight up then a guided walk though a fairy tale ice sculpture created by nature and changing daily. Absolutely mind blowing. Then a helicopter ride back...More

To hike to Fran Josef glacier is a great walk - I’m thinking it was a mile hike or so and no bridge to get to it!
