About
Situated in the Parry Kauri park and watched over by two magnificent Kauri trees makes for a stunning location. Whilst only a few minutes from State Highway, the impression is created of being back in the early pioneer days of the late 1800s'. Some great short forest walks on well maintained board walks, even on wet days it seems like another world. Good car-parking and friendly staff at the museum make for an excellent few hours. Toilets and picnic tables are available for those who wish to spend a few hours enjoying the surroundings. Ice creams, drinks, light snacks and souvenirs are available at the museum shop

Have passed through Warkworth several times but had never visited the local museum. It was rewarding as it presented the history of the Mahurangi area through the eyes of the local community and families who'd been intimately connected to the township.
The staff were helpful and informative, especially about the two magnificent kauri trees on the property.

A really special museum of local history run by friendly knowledgeable local volunteers. It gave an insight to the settlement and development of the area. While there we would recommend a visit to the adjoining Kauri grove.

Have lived in the area for many years and have never visited. Went today when visiting family and it was absolutely amazing. Learned so much about the area and its people. It is all run by volunteers who are so informative. What a pleasure to visit and the stock and ice creams in the shop all go towards fundraising - for $7.00 each for entry - an absolute bargain. Will definitely be back.

Great display of colonial history inside this historic building. Outside a majestic pair of kauri trees, 900 years old.

Museum has decent historical exhibition, very good for the museum of the size.
Also make sure you go on track, its an easy, beautiful natural walk.
And definitely take a picture with big kauri :)

What a gem this is.Bigger than it looks and so well presented.
Allow time as so much to see & all so interesting. A credit to all volunteers & I feel it should be a must see for locals & visitors alike

We were staying with friends at nearby Snells Beach and as we had a couple of hours to spend we decided to go to the museum. So glad we did as it was very interesting and saw lots of things that brought back great memories.

Lovingly tended by volunteers, .warkeorth Museum is a fascinating stroll through the area history, including NZ service during World Wars, the settlement of the area, and lots of social history including beautiful women’s handicrafts.
