Looks amazing here - Can't wait to go back and explore the trails. Awesome drive in for those that don't mind the undulating hill roads.

Great beaches, parkland, walking trails and native forest.

Just 85km north of Auckland’s CBD find this beautiful predator free regional park. Several beaches to choose from for the day tripper swimmer, surfer, sun lover or various walks around the peninsula.
We enjoyed a great walk on the well pathed Ecology Trail, great native bird life, fauna and forest. Amongst the usuals we saw, Saddle Backs and Bellbirds. On arriving at the top of the forested trail if the tide is low you can drop down through the farmland to the coast and return to the beach / carpark via the beautiful coastline and its rocky outcrops dynamic in colour and design. A great public facility.

The BEST value for money!

We drove out to the park not knowing what to expect. Entry is free and you can drive through most of the park to almost the end of the pensinsula. There are good walks, and a variety of native birds.
The Tawhananui Open Sanctuary Society Incorporated (TOSSI) have done a great job!
A great picnic spot .
Recommended.

Great for a beach walk

Gorgeous beach and was a great spot for a wintry walk. When you arrive, keep driving right to the end of the road so you end up in the main car park. Only mentioning as when you 1st arrive, there are a couple if small bays but they’re not the main attraction!

I come here multiple times when I'm back home in NZ. I have worked out an approx 10km run I do which starts at the Anchor Bay car park along the beach, cutting back through the protected forrest and along the southern coast out to Takatu Point and back to Anchore Bay. The views are stunning and different landscape and scenery keeps it so interesting. Anchor Bay is great for a swim afterwards.

Can't wait to head back there.

Stunning walks and beautiful beaches

Any visitor to the north island has to visit this area. A short drive of just over an hour from Auckland will bring you to paradise. The regional park has a number of short walks that provide views that will take your breath away. After working up a sweat dive in to the ocean from a couple of the golden sandy beaches. If you are interested in camping there is a site. But be warned. Book early, it’s always busy in summer.

The beach is white sand and the sea is good for boogie boarding. Surf is not too strong, good for learners. Wonderful beach for a picnic

Good surf beach and very popular!
Easy one hour drive from Auckland.
Entry is via a bird reserve and is not suitable for pets!

Excellent caves and rock pools to wander at low tide too. A great place to take a picnic and stay for the day!
