Sheepworld, Warkworth: Address, Phone Number, Sheepworld Reviews: 4.5/5

About
Sheepworld is New Zealand’s Sheep and Wool Centre. In twice-daily live demonstrations the dogs round up and bring in the sheep, which are then sorted and shorn. Our Wonderful Wool multimedia exhibition then explains how the fleece is turned into an amazing variety of products, many of which are on sale in our store. There’s also an eco-discovery stroll through native bush, a natural adventure playground, a farmyard full of animals and an on-site cafe. Suitable for all ages.

Nice sheep show when we arrived there. Also lot of farm animals to interact with here. they are all in their enclosures and you can feed them while enjoying the great farm. Great activity for kids and they learn a lot. We will go back again.

I FEEL SORRY FOR ALL ANIMALS LIVING IN THIS PLACE.

Entrance fee is high with NZD 14.50 compared to what you experience. Most animals cages look modest and not suitable to the animals needs. For example, pigs need to be able to cover themselves in mood as a sun protection. Today was a sunny day and no surprise the pigs skin was sun burned as there was no shadowing and no mood coming from a ponch or so. The stuff seems unprofessional as they are talking to the animals as if they were their babies. The water of the lake with the eals looks dirty, definitely not good for the fishes health. Most of the animals such as sheep, alpacas, cows, donkeys, goats seem to be bored and are behaving disordered. The rabbits should not be kept in tiny dark cages, the should be able to hop around and dig borrows.

I FEEL SORRY FOR ALL ANIMALS LIVING IN THIS PLACE.

Wonderful place!

We wanted to see a sheep shearing show but avoid the overly-commercial places, and this was the perfect choice! Well worth driving from around Auckland, the show was funny and very informative at the same time and it made me really appreciate all the wool products even more now that we know how much work and know-how they require. Kids that were watching the show got a chance to feed the baby goats and lambs, which looked like a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience for them <3 Also nice to walk around seeing & feeding the other animals. Highly recommend!

Worth a visit if up north of Auckland

Worth a visit if you are in the area and not going to be going anywhere near Rotarua.
The shearing show was good although for youngsters a bit long winded. The shearing show in itself is 1 hour long.
Great place to hand feed many animals with pellets and also to bottle feed lambs.

Don’t miss the show!

We planned our visit to Sheepworld to catch the morning show, and we’re so glad we did. Watching Boy herd the sheep in was fascinating, then the sheep shearing show was so much fun. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and I even got to try my hand at helping shear. If you can fit this into your trip, it’s definitely worth it.
