What a wonderful day! Full of sights, variety, information from our host, and so much beauty. Small personal day trip in his 4-wheel drive vehicle. Gary picked us up in Kaitaia, and adjusted where he took us partly by the tides (some places need to be visited at low tide) and a lot by what we wanted to see and do. (He is a careful driver and very professional host by the way.) I echo the other person below, who said that the isolated Great Exhibition Bay was definitely a highlight--watching the Pacific Ocean crashing on the beach, and bird watching. My husband went swimming; I didn't. Deidre had prepared both morning tea and a delicious lunch, having checked beforehand whether we had any food requirements. We had plenty of time at each location, and extra photo stops too when there was something interesting. Nice walk to the lighthouse. Even the fog that rolled in for a lot of the day didn't slow us down or interfere with a great trip. Highly recommend this.

Our family (adult children) spent an amazing day exploring 90 Mile Beach, Cape Reinga and surrounds with the friendliest and most welcoming guide Gary. He has a wealth of local knowledge about the area and the people. He and his wife provided great food, warm drinks and wine. Arranging the trip and pick up directly was effortless. We would strongly recommend Far North Outback Adventures if you want to maximise your 90 Mile Beach experience.

Thanks, Gary, for a most enjoyable day in spite of the nasty weather. He picked us up at our B& B and drove straight to the beach. We met clam diggers, saw the whale spine (photo now on their Facebook page), oyster catchers' nests, and much, much more. We still talk about the kite fisherman and his wife. Gary was informative and entertaining. He was well prepared historic photographs, umbrellas, slickers and towels. Tea and lunch were delicious. And the carrot cake was the best! We saw and learned far more than if we had been on our own. We highly recommend the tour

This trip up the 90 Mile Beach and to the top of the North Island was informative and interesting as well as enjoyable. Xavier shares his passion for the land, the sea and the people of New Zealand. He takes you places you could not experience on your own. The scenery was spectacular, the history fascinating and the day a lot of fun. Definitely a must do when you visit new Zealand.

Great to hear that this was a highlight of your trip to New Zealand. We really do strive to get off the beaten track and go where others struggle to get to. We do this with the help of the great knowledge of the area that we here at Far North Tours have. It is also great to hear people appreciate the history that we have in the Far North of New Zealand.

Experiencing the isolated, hard-to-visit Great Exhibition Bay was the highlight - an extraordinary place. Kids enjoyed sand surfing, and the drive down Ninety Mile Beach is always a treat. THANKS Gary.

We met Gary in Kaitaia and proceeded in his vehicle onto the famous 90 mile beach! We drove alongside the crashing waves and stopped every once in a while to talk to fisherman. Each was using a slightly different fishing technique which was explained to us by Gary. We stopped mid morning for a delicious tea with homemade treats. The drive along the beach was spectacular. Really the only way to experience it! Other stops included an attempt by us seniors to sand board down the dunes and a visit to the lighthouse at the furthest northern tip. We experienced a delightful day with an excellent lunch and much to see and appreciate. Just a note of caution when attempting a booking, their email response is very slow.

We, a family with 3 teenager kids spent a wonderful day out at 90MB and Kap Reinga with Gary and his Landcruiser. GAry immediately made the connect and we felt taken care of extremely well. We had a half day experience including beach driving, lunch on the beach incl. A glas of well Chilled Sauv-blanc! Cap Reinga visit, sand surving and a splash into the ocean at the end. Gary is extremey knowledgabel about the area and in partikular its Maori roots. We learnt alot and had great fun. Thanks!

Our family had an amazing day with Gary driving up and down 90-miles beach - we learnt so much about local life and wildlife! Lovely lunch spot and yummy sandwiches. Fun time sliding down the sand dune. Enjoyed very much the amazing view at Cape Reinga. It was perfect and we would definitively recommend - thank you Deidre Gary!

We had a brilliant day with Gary touring the far north. He picked us up right outside our door in Kaitaia, took us to Shipwreck bay, the Kauri kingdom shop, the whole length of 90 mile beach, sandboarding, a beautiful picnic spot (vegetarian and gluten-free were no problem), up to Cape Reinga, and back via 90 mile beach, bombing along at speed which was great fun. Throughout he was great company, very knowledgable, flexible with the itinerary, clearly a part of the local community and he helped us spot the wildlife. Don't do the Cape Reinga bus from Paihia - this costs a bit more but it's really worth it.
