Good paths to walk and enjoy the lovely views. Good for younger children as I took my 8 and 11 year olds and they managed fine. Take water as the walk is a bit long and there are stairs at the end which are quite...More

Nice albeit undulating walk, beautiful beach and stone archway at the end of it. Timed it right and went early morning and left as the buses carrying hundreds started arriving but had the beach to almost to ourselves for a good while. Parking between October...More

This walk takes about 45 mins each way. Make sure you take water as it is very undulating and steep in some parts and there is no fresh water when you get there. If you are planning on making a day of it you will...More

Beautiful hike down to cathedral cove and beaches. Well signed with time estimates between points. Try one of the other posted side trails for more solitude as most of the foot traffic is heading to/from cathedral cove. I was able to sit on a rock...More

It's worth it. The walk from the lookout to the beach is beautiful, but not easy if overweight and unfit. There are reasonably steep sections both up and down. The carpark at the lookout is only open during winter. All other times park in the...More

We drove all the way in to a look out to see this breath taking Cove but the secret to landing on the beach where you can walk under it - is to Kayak there. Loved it - it represents that instal-worthy photo of any...More

A great short walk to a beautiful location. The shuttle bus service works well, dropping you to the top of the lookout and picking up afterwards.

My family and I are currently travelling in a campervan around NZ and were staying nearby in Coromandel (approx a 10 minute drive). Warning - no parking available for campervans at the pay-for-use car park closet to the Cathedral Cove walkway. Plenty of local residents...More

Fortunately managed to get a park in the main car park. Found the walk to be quite steep and there was no signage to indicate difficulty or the fact there were a lot of stairs at the other end so would not have been suitable...More

We visited on the first day that the park and ride was in operation. We parked in the car park at Hahei, just on the right as you enter the town. Within a few minutes, the bus was there. $5 return per adult was well...More

Hi. From the Hahei carpark it's about 45 minute walk one way. Alternatively you can park closer to the start of the walk. Some locals charge $10 to park on their property. From there it's a 30 minute walk. Enjoy!

We rented a car and drove to all our destinations. We are used to going it on our own. But there are shuttles that will take you. Just ask your concierge desk.
