Briar Ridge Vineyard is a 5 star winery nestled in the Mount View region of the Hunter Valley, a well renowned viticultural area. Originally owned by Murray Robson, the vineyards were first planted in 1974, and known as the 'Squire Vineyard'. This Iconic Hunter Vineyard was purchased in 1988 by Dr John Davis which makes up one third of his vineyard resources located throughout Australia which also includes Orange in Central NSW and Wrattonbully on the Limestone Coast.

We are one of the leading producers of iconic Hunter Valley wines and have been awarded numerous accolades on both the National and International Wine Show Circuit. This is reinforced by our 5 star rating awarded by Australia's renowned wine critic James Halliday for 3 consecutive years running 2012, 2013 & 2014.

Our Cellar Door is located two and half hours north of Sydney and is open 7 days a week. Offering the full spectrum of wine tasting and sales, we are recognised for our long history in the region and our well established wine club (find out more here).

We have recently appointmented Gwyn Olsen as our new Chief Winemaker, a rising star of the wine industry. Gwyn studied Oenology at Roseworthy University in Adelaide, graduating in 2005, completing her first vintage in France, with a further six in New Zealand, and three in the Hunter Valley. She has recently joined an elite group of winemakers after being named DUX of the Australian Wine Research Institute, Advanced Wine Assessment Course 2012.

Gwyn also joins the talents of Living Legend 'Karl Stockhausen', a winemaker with over 50 years of experience in producing iconic Hunter Valley wines. We take huge in acknowledging Karl's success by showcasing a range under our brand which typify traditional Hunter Styles; the Karl Stockhausen Signature range includes styles such as Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. In 2007, Karl was officially made a 'Living Legend' one of the six inaugural recipients of the Hunter Living Legends Awards.

Briar Ridge is primarily a Cellar Door and online operation, although our wines are distributed to key independent retail outlets as well as on premise venues across NSW.

This was our last winery stop on the way home and was definitely worth it! Amazing wine - the 2016 Verdhelo, Cab Sav and Rosé as well as the old vine Shiraz are the stand outs. Place for kids to roam and toys for them too. Will definitely be back!

Briar Ridge was our first vineyard that we visited during our weekend away. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and it sounded great, it was! The wines were really good and Jamie Lee knew her stuff. Anyone heading out this way needs to check out this place, you will not be disappointed

Briar Ridge was the first stop on our wine tasting tour and it was a great way to get acquainted with Hunter Valley (or The Hunter). Our guide introduced us to the winery and to five selections: two white, two red, and a dessert wine. Her descriptions were informative and the wines were quite delicious. This stop started us off... We did Briar Ridge winery on a tour to the hunter region. The country setting of this estate make it a very relaxing experience. The wine maker at the estate is very well recognized within the wine industry and the quality of the wine is evidence of this. Id highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

This winery was an enjoyable end to our day in the Hunter. There was a nice selection of wines and the staff was very friendly. There were also a selection of food options including cheese plates and antipasto platters. It was the setting that really made it enjoyable as we sat in a vine covered veranda up in the hills....
