The structure doesn't look like much from a distance. At first glance you would say it looked like a warehouse, but once you park you realize that a lot thought was taken to design the building, its placement and the setting. A huge more than 30 ft tall wooden door welcomes you to this singani production site. You get to see the machinery, and learn the differences between how to make singani versus brady. You get a great tasting event in a sunny modern courtyard. It was a truly first rate experience.

Visiting Casa Real, the home of Singani here in Tarija, is a way to add something special to your wine tour. Singani is a distilled grape liquor and Bolivia's national drink. The tour is really interesting and informative and the tasting is even better.

I decided to join a wine tour and this was one of their stops. This was one of the best parts of the tour. It was really informative and an enjoyable experience. We were able to tour the premises and see all the machinery involved with production. The lady who was our guide was very knowledgable and sweet! The tastings provided are an added bonus. I'm not sure if they do this on every tour but we did have a selection of cheeses and meats available as we tasted their drinks. Overall a must while in Tarija !

Unfortunately, the weekend that we went to Tarija is also when they had the election which prohibits consumption and sale of alcohol. As we didn't find out about it in time, we weren't able to tour the wineries as we'd planned. We only had enough time to run to the store located in Calle 15 de Abril No 259 and bought a few bottles of singani. They'd also recommended the Trivaleital from Campo de Solana that had won some kind of regional award. Hubby really liked the Trivaleital.
