When you walk through the narthex and down the aisle, you will *know* you are in a holy place of worship. Everything about this church is incredibly beautiful, from the leaded stained glass windows to the three dimensional altar backdrop to the more-than-life-sized angels that guard the pews (each angel was carved/cast in the likeness of a local teenager when... You may not get in the front doors if there at an off-time, but go in the Chapel door and look through a door's window into the cathedral. Prepare to be wowed. This is an ornate, spiritual space you can appreciate for the art, the religion, the history- and that as a very "rich" experience, it contrasts greatly with the... More

I took my mom and aunt to New Bedford for a 100th birthday party. When we left the party I stopped by this church because I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were so glad we stopped--It was a most beautiful church--awe inspiring. It took our breath away when we walked in!

What a magnificent church! We were visiting from out of town and had just had dinner in town. We drove past but the church was closed. Would loved to have seen the inside. The outside was gorgeous and unusual.

This is the most ornate and beautiful church in New England by far. Don't miss Christmas midnight mass when they light the whole church up...it's breathtaking.

Built near the turn of the 20th century, St. Anthony's is a towering spire (they say the tallest in New England) but it's true beauty is the immense, towerinf ceilings and decorations insoide. The Nave over the ALtaer is exceptionally beautiful Try to catch it on a night when the choir or Symphony Orchestra are performing. They also do organ... More

We visited St. Anthony's on a Sunday morning, just planning on popping in to see the church. It was so spectacular we decided to stay for a mass, and were lucky enough to be there when the bishop was. Beautiful church, definitely worth seeing.

We stopped here because this was my grandfathers church many years ago. It's a beautiful church and a short drive from the whaling attractions down the street.

Our first apartment was across the street, that was 45 years ago. While we were not Catholic at the time, the church was so beautiful, the steeple standing out along the city horizon.

This is a very beautiful church. You could spend a good amount of time in it. There is so much to take in. If you travel to the city for the whaling museum, this church is just a few miles away & definitely worth a visit.
