I have to thank Trip Advisor for leading me to Maui Bombers. I was looking for the top things to do in Maui, and the Cycle to the Sea trip with Maui Bombers popped up as highly recommended, so we decided to do it. We had so much fun from beginning to end. Matt is an amazing tour guide (he's the founder of Maui Bombers) - his love for his job and company is so evident. He made the comment that he has biked down Haleakala over a thousand times and still finds it just as fun as the first time he did it and I absolutely believe that - which makes it all the more fun for those he is leading. The trip was so well organized and time efficient. We met at a parking lot and he already had the bikes with him so we could just head right up the mountain in the van. He keeps the groups small (2-5 people) which makes it so personal and fun. I honestly felt like Matt was a friend that lives in Hawaii showing us a good time. We appreciated not having to get up too early like some of the other tours do to get there for sunrise. Plus this later start tour (8am) had the added benefit of it being a warmer ride down the mountain. We did see some of the other groups having to wear the full face motorcycle helmets which would have been a drag. Matt's bikes are top quality and he even names them (based on his favorite movie, I won't give it away!). The tour went at just the right speed, fast but not too fast and I'm sure Matt adjusts based on the level of his group. He took photos and videos and air dropped them to us at the end which made it easy for us to just enjoy the ride. We even got to listen to some music as we rode down the mountain. He had tasty snacks (including homemade muffins). Nalu (his driver) was very sweet and friendly. We finished by mid day and still had the afternoon to enjoy. Highly, highly recommend.

After researching and reading reviews of companies offering Haleakala bike tours we chose Maui Bombers and their exclusive 40 mile "Cycle Supreme" tour. The fact that they are ranked #1 Maui Bike tour on Tripadvisors didnt hurt either! I'm not going to repeat everything that sets Maui Bombers apart from the other bike tour companies,...you just can visit their website for that info. I will just say that Matt (the owner/our guide) and Mackenzie (support vehicle driver) were a blast to hang out with all day. Their balance of fun and professionalism allowed us to take in the incredible views while staying safe. They were nearby offering guidance and support where needed,...but mostly remained at a distance allowing my wife and I to just "Enjoy the Ride!"
Bonus #1: They took videos and photos along the way and sent us a video montage of our entire trip by the time we made the drive back to our condo.
Bonus #2: The surprisingly delicious homemade banana muffins!
Bonus #3: They picked us up and dropped us off right in front of our condo in Kihei.
And finally...Bonus #4: Matt stopped by 2 days later to exchange a Maui Bomber t-shirt size. Again, he's the owner of this terrific little company offering a great experience and customer service! His love for what he is doing is evident. You will love it too!

We were wanting to do many activities during our trip to Maui & I am so glad we booked this bike ride with the Maui Bombers team! We were highly impressed with their kindness and our entire experience. We did the “unguided tour”, so we worked directly with Alex the day of. He was wonderful! So friendly and gave us a lot of information about Maui, as it was our first time visiting. We greatly enjoyed the snacks provided, including Matt’s homemade muffins - yum! The guys were very prepared & provided us with all of the gear and bikes necessary for a safe trip. The views coming down Mt. Haleakala and the floral scents were unmatched. Highly recommend doing this tour with Maui Bombers when you are in Maui; you won’t be disappointed booking with this team!

The best way to spend a morning in Maui! Matt goes out of his way (for example, homemade muffins!!) to make sure everyone has a great experience.
It was an exhilarating (but not technically challenging) downhill ride with several stops to take in the view and snap a few pics. We rode through several cute little towns and had time to explore the local bakery and have a delicious lunch. We went in January and it was cold the first half of the ride at higher elevations, but warmed up nicely by the end.
They also limit it to smaller group sizes than other tours and it felt so much safer that way. Highly, highly recommend!

No wonder they are #1. Our family joined Matt and his team for the Cycle to the Sea bike ride. We all agreed it was one of the highlights of our Maui vacation. I won't spoil the surprise but Maui Bombers packs so much added value into their tours making it so worth their fee and much more. We saw many other bike tour companies along the way and Maui Bombers equipment is far superior than any other bike tour companies we saw. Take this tour with Maui Bombers and you will not regret it. The Best by far!

Without a doubt the coolest bike tour of Haleakala l. Both owners and guides have worked for the “big” companies for years and opened Maui Bombers. We’ll get to the ride in a second but lets talk about autonomy. We did the self guided tour but that doesn’t mean that you’re alone. The guides have over 4K rides on this tour between themselves and on the self-guided tour they’re still there to help. Pretty much just tell you facts and history on the way up but still guide you on the way down by meeting you at checkpoints and loading the group up with info. Also, new bikes! You can see the sunrise groups coming down the hill as you drive up with Mountain Bombers. They all look miserable and we found out why. The other groups drag you up at sunrise and then they don’t begin riding until we did. Maybe about 30min before. No reason to get up at 2am. Back to the bikes. Their bikes are all like 15yo and Maui Bombers are all brand new. Also, Maui Bombers gives you regular bike helmets so you don’t have whole face helmets full of other peoples sweat. Our guides and equipment rocked. It was awesome to not be treated like children and have all the info we needed.the equipment was top notch. We can’t recommend Maui Bombers more. 100% send!

We had such a great time on Maui Bombers Cycle to the Sea bike ride, from the top of Haleakala at 6,700ft all the way down to the beach at Paia! This company does it right! They go for quality over quantity. You won’t feel like they are trying to jam as many people into a van as they can. You feel a personal connection and are greeted by name when you arrive. Matt has muffins, water, Gatorade, chips and whatever you want. They provided us with windbreakers and gloves for the ride down, since it is pretty cold at the top! Matt takes pictures all along the way, and even breaks out a drone to get amazing areal videos of you riding down and plays the video to music. Most companies would try to upsell you on the photos and videos, but Matt just airdrops them to your phone at the end of the ride. Everything is included! You get to walk around the cute town of Makawao while waiting for your delicious lunch at the Makawao Garden Café. We chose this ride because we weren’t interested in getting up at 3:30am to do a sunrise ride, and honestly, we had perfect weather all the way down. By the time you start heading down, most of the traffic from people who went up to see the sunrise is gone and you have the road to yourselves. I can’t recommend this tour enough! It was definitely the highlight of our trip! We would choose Maui Bombers again and do one of their other rides next time. The bikes had very comfortable seats and you wear a regular bike helmet, rather than a motorcycle helmet we saw all the other companies using. Book this tour. You won’t regret it!

Matt is a very animated, exciting, outgoing, accommodating person who really had the whole package. Perfect bikes, banana and coconut muffins, snacks and drinks, takes you to the highest point, solid gear (good helmets, windbreakers etc). It was a very fun day and Matt did everything he could to make sure conditions were pretty much perfect. Overall I have no complaints. Such an awesome experience, and I highly recommend! Especially, but not limited to, those adrenaline thrill seekers!

The best bikes, and by far the most fun you can ever imagine. Matt was informative (funny) provided good riding tips (funny)provided snacks(corny jokes😅)and made every rider feel at ease with the ride down- Alex and Kyle( part of the crew) also very informative and funny and made the whole experience perfect! Do not hesitate to book with this outfit, I highly recommend Maui Bombers. What a ride!

Matt is the owner/operator and he was also our tour guide. He was very responsive with any questions we had ahead of time. In light of covid he is doing small private tours at VERY reasonable rates - we were a group of 2 and had the van to ourselves (good luck finding that with another company). He provided delicious homemade muffins, snacks, and waters. He gave us lots of tips and tricks and was always nearby in case we needed him. Thanks for a great day!

My family (2 adults, 15yr old, 12 yr old and 10yr old) are staying at Kamaole Sands in November 2019. We ride leisurely only..no mountain or traffic experience. What would you recommend? I think a leisurely bike tour around quiet parts of the island would be wonderful!

Definitely join us for our Cycle To The Sea tour. Families with kids have become our specialty because our group size is only 6 people maximum, and that allows me to pay full attention to your kids. There’s a really good chance that it will be a private tour as well. Thanks!

The ride is 28 miles, starting in Haleakala ranch at 6600' elevation and ends in Ulupalakua at 2000' elevation. Good mix of descent and climbs. Check out the website or feel free to call. Price is $190 pp. We are the only company to bike this incredible route.

We will be offering a swim with the turtles/bike ride combo soon. 8 hours tour suitable for most. Your 7 yr.old can ride in the van during bike portion.
