This beach is long, wide and empty! At least when we were there. Peaceful and easy to find. Parking available also. Bring some shade as not too many trees to hide under. Nice walkable shoreline. A little breezy but not enough to get sand blasted....More

We were there 30 minutes and some local broke into our car and stole our camera and lenses. The locals smile and expect their 20% tip during the day, and then steal from you at night. I would love to include a picture, but I'd...More

This beach is awesome. We are here on a calm day. I want to come back and see it on a wild day. We opted not to swim, but the waves were such we could have timed things to get out beyond the shore break,...More

There is a trek from the tricky parking situation to the water line. Lifeguards are on duty and actively engaging with beach goers. But if you are a weak swimmer this is not the beach for you if you intend to get wet. Not a...More

This is hands down our favorite beach so far. It’s divided between big beach and little beach. Little beach is clothing optional and mixed, meaning that there are straight and gay people all sharing the beach. It’s never too crowded and always fun and relaxing....More

This beach is nice, but the waves are very strong. When the waves hit they have a very strong pull In pretty fit and almost fell. Watch children very close. There are Porta potties that are decent.

This beach is also known as Big Beach. It's just a state park beach - no hotels or developments crowding up on it. Beautiful sand beach. A bunch of parking. Food trucks come for lunch. Lots of room. A real Hawaiian beach, a delight.

What a beautiful beach! Big Beach is huge with powdery sand and warm blue waters. It has great waves for everyone! The beach is so big that you can find spots for swimming, body surfing and board surfing. If walk up and over a trail...More

The ocean is dangerous because the surf breaks suddenly at the edge of the beach but the feel of the power of the ocean is second to none. Stay for a beautiful sunset

We took a drive to check out Makena or Big Beach. The road out Wailea to Makena is about 20 minutes. The road narrows to one lane. We saw some food trucks. One sold root beer floats and another Jawzz sold fish tacos. The parking...More

Sorry for my late response, but I didn't see this until now. Makena Beach is a nice spot but there are several spots more appropriate for a wedding. My favorite would be Secret Beach, which is just a bit south of Makena... More
