- Melvin BEdmonds, Washington9 contributionsAn amazing and marvelous experience to cap a perfect Hawaiian vacation. This was a wonderful family experience to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. The scenic and spacious grassy location between beach and resort pools was perfect with sea and setting sun in the background and a slightly raised area for the performers. The show was absolutely outstanding and the food was incredible. The meal consisted of three large sampler plates served as separate courses to each individual by friendly and helpful hosts. The food was an excellent variety of meats, fish and vegetables with a number of Hawaiian specialities. The shredded pork was mouth watering. There was plenty of good quality food and special attention was paid to accommodate all types of allergies. Before the performance there were a number of activities around the area to keep young children and teenagers occupied. There was an open bar from time of arrival to the end of the show with an excellent variety of drinks and all included in the price of the event. The show itself was amazing and really well done which show cased in a respectful and historic context Hawaiian culture as narrated by a native Hawaiian. The fire dance finale after the sun had set was spectacular and sure to attract everyone’s attention. Apart from recognizing couples who were just married and older married couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries there were no required audience participation events that can sometimes be awkward or embarrassing. The area for this luau was plenty large enough and the entry through the resort area was eye catching. Having vale parking was a plus. The seating arrangements were well done with good views of the performers from virtually all of the tables. Each table could seat eight people but on request could seat up to ten. While there were a large number of people attending and the luau was obviously sold out this luau did not appear overly massive with humongous crowds. For the space available you did not feel jammed in or overly crowded with too many other people. There was plenty of room between tables and to move around the area with lots of open spaces. A very scenic area was reserved for complimentary family and couple photographs by a professional photographer with sea and palm tree background. At entry to the event families and couples were greeted by friendly hosts who placed the customary lai around each individual’s neck and provided a welcome beverage. This may not be the cheapest luau on Maui but in the minds of all of our ten family members it was well worth it by far. We would highly recommend it to all considering attending a luau in Maui.Visited July 2022Traveled with familyWritten August 7, 2022
- Christina CBrighton, Michigan5 contributionsINCREDIBLEThis Luau met all expectations and beyond. The setting is gorgeous, the story of the Luau was beautiful and the dancers were INCREDIBLE. I also loved the band and the Lady who lead the story. What an incredible experience. My only complaint would be about our waiter. The other waiters seemed to explain the food courses to their tables and ours always seemed behind and rushing to put the food in front of us. He didn’t ruin a moment of our night, but it was noticeable.Visited October 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten October 7, 2022
- Jenna571 contributionsFeast at Mokapu (Luau at the Andaz Maui)We did not stay at this hotel but attended the luau only. I wanted to write a review as I did not see many when I was researching. We really enjoyed this luau - it is a smaller affair (probably about 10 tables of 10 people) and that really contributed to the ambiance. We felt very welcomed from the welcome mai tais as we waited to check in, the hostess of the evening stopping at every table to talk with the guests and remembering our names!, and the table service. We enjoyed visiting the three tables of activities (print making, lei bracelet making and temporary tattoos) prior to dinner and the free sunset photograph they take of you which made a wonderful keepsake. My family included two 80 year old seniors so I had searched for a luau where they did not have to stand in a buffet line and this was perfect. The first course was outstanding - we only wish we could have seconds! As we were sharing a table with another family, we wanted to make sure everyone had their fair share and unfortunately some of the standouts like the ahi poke and squid lu'au, did not have enough for seconds. The second course needed some work - the prime rib was delicious but the fish was dry. I realize it's challenging to cook for so many people so maybe some sauce for the fish on the side would help with that. The show was amazing (my comparison point was our other experience at the PCC which was good but not amazing) I loved the hostess - she was warm, friendly and just an amazing story teller. All the servers we interacted with at the open bar and serving our table were gracious and friendly. The traditional dancing was beautiful and the Samoan fire dancing thrilling! The performers made themselves available for pictures afterwards and as it was such an intimate affair, it was easy to grab a quick picture with them before heading out. In summary, the price point is one of the highest but I think this translated in the quality of the food, show, service and overall ambiance. I would go back to this luau in the future, especially if they keep it to such an intimate size, but not the PCC one.Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us. - HootOwl221 contributionLowest point of Maui week! What a disappointment! Recycled dancers — some of the same people who did the Marriott luau in Feb 2022; we have the pics to prove it. Food was of the same quality as an in-flight Delta meal in first class. The servers are slow and didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on. We got stuck in the back at a table of 8 by ourselves and could see nothing over the kids running around the whole time while the parents were wasted from the free bar. Backyard string of lights are super cheesy — Grand Wailea luau has spectacular lighting up the palms btw. It’s NOT a way to spend any time in Maui. My wife cried walking home after the show it was so bad — felt we wasted ~$600 total. Never going to a Luau again!Visited December 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten December 2, 2022

- Jodi S1 contributionFeast at Mokapu (Luau Andez at Wailea)Although the scenery and entertainment was amazing, our family was sadly disappointed and did not feel we got what we paid for. Maui has the best food and unfortunately at this luau, the food was not very good and NOT even close to a feast! Each dish was served family style and to be shared with more people than in your own family. I have two large teenage sons who left the “feast” feeling hungry and NO one was comfortable sharing food with strangers at the table. We love Maui, but we would not recommend this activity if you’re expecting a large meal for your family with great food.Visited November 2019Traveled with familyWritten November 27, 2019
- AnnieDallas, Texas5 contributionsLuxury luau experienceThe Andaz is a beautiful facility and the luau takes place on a manicured lawn off the beach. It is a much more intimate luau than others - family style food service at your table in lieu of a buffet, smaller seat availability (maybe 25 tables of 8 chairs). You don't even need to pay for premium seating because every table has a great view of the stage. Before the luau starts, they have fun cultural activities, complimentary family photographs and drinks. It's refreshing to enjoy the atmosphere without having to worry about getting your seat. We enjoyed talking to the dancers and singers. The music and story was phenomenal. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our kids (6 years old) played with other kids, danced on the luau stage and loved watching (and mimicking) all the dances.Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. We were excited to attend a luau on our recent trip, and decided to go to the Feast at Mokapu since we were already staying at the hotel and had read good reviews.
We got a discount since we stayed at the hotel (you have to book it through the hotel concierge if you want the discount). It is more expensive than other luaus I looked into but here’s what you get for your money:
You sit at a table with 8 people total and the day we went there were only 2 rows of tables with 11 tables total so every person had a great view.
There were a few activities before you sat down. You could get a tribal tattoo stamp, a wrist corsage type lei, and try stamping patterns on a material they used to use for clothing.
They brought a you family style 3 course dinner that was delicious and had plenty of different dishes to try. The meat was tender and not over cooked at all. The dessert was 3 mini desserts so everyone could try them all.
Drinks were included, but the bar was limited. The mai tais I had were good.
The host of the evening came around to each table and introduced herself and asked about birthdays and anniversaries which she remembered and was able to mention each person or couple celebrating something at the end of the evening.
The story telling, hula dancing, and live music were all wonderful. We felt privileged to learn about and experience Maui’s culture and history. The fire dancer was a 3 time world champion and was absolutely amazing.
Oh, you also get a professional 8x10 photo of your group/couple and a lei upon arrival.
I’d recommend this luau without reservation, and happily attend again if we ever get to visit Maui again.

We had Premium (first row) seats which were good. The pre-show activities were okay and the Luau show itself was really good.
However, the food was not good overall. The Mahi didn’t taste fresh (fishy) and was dry/tough. The Ahi Poke didn’t taste fresh (fishy) either. The pork was overcooked and dry, but had a good BBQ flavor. The rib-eye was good and the desserts were okay. Overall, at $250 per person, it was rather pricey for what you get.

Jan 2019 • Family
I previously worked as a concierge, so have attended every luau that Maui has to offer. I had family in town and they booked this luau on Sunday evening and asked that I join them. From the very beginning, it was top notch. The Hyatt offers free valet service if you are attending the luau. The event is much smaller than most luaus on island. There were only about 10 tables (seating 8 or 9 each) set up with a spectacular view of the ocean. Tables were very nice and set exceptionally well with a typical fine dining set up. As you were welcomed with a lovely lei, the coordinator told guests personally about the "lei making" and "temporary Hawaiian tattoo" options that were available, as well as the open bar and photographer who was taking beach view photos on the grassy knoll. You won't miss the display of the traditional Kalua pig and there is time to get photos as they cart the roasted pig away. The eight by ten photographs were included in the price, which was refreshing, as most luaus charge between $20. and $30. if you want to purchase the photo. Entertainment was great (one of the best fire dancers ever) and costumes were wonderful.
I can't begin to describe how amazing the food was. Not your typical buffet that is served at luau. Plates were served "family style" to each table. For the 1st course, I especially liked the Ahi Poke and Cured Beef Poke, but all 6 choices were tasty.
For the second choice, you were able to have wok stirred prawns, kalua pig, individual ribeye steaks, fresh caught mahi mahi, molokai sweet potatoes and rice. Everyone at are table continually stated how great all the food was.
And then came dessert; Haupia tarts (if you like coconut at all, please be sure and try these as they were light, not overly sweet, and just delectable) Molokai's Sweet Potato cheesecake (I didn't get to try this as my cousin begged me for my portion. Obviously she loved it!} or Flourless chocolate cake (I will admit, I had 2 of these......ok, I had 3, but no one was counting)
At the end of the event, the performers came by the tables to ask how we like the show and the food. Very personable and fun for everyone.! Even though the luau is only performed twice a week (Sundays and Tuesdays), I will highly recommend it in the future.

Is there any benefit of getting the premium seating ($250) vs the classic seating for $200?

Classic seating is enough. It's quite an intimate setting, the stage is raised and wherever you're seated, you'll have a good view. We paid for classic and we're seated right at the front.

We're going to be staying at the Andaz next month and saw they offered a luxury luau. The price is high at $200 pp and the website description on ohana style meal is very vague, what kind of food is served and what kind of cocktails or other drinks are available for that price?

The food wasn’t good. I saw guest of the Andaz watching from the pool area or from their own cabana. I would suggest doing dinner at a restaurant and reserving a Cabana to watch the show.
