We stayed at the Andaz in Wailea and booked an early morning trip to hopefully hang out with some humpback whales. We did our trip with three other people from the resort and together with our guide we crewed a fantastic outrigger that was easy to handle and paddle. Our guide, who also steered the outrigger, was informed, relaxed and friendly and he made the experience a real pleasure. Luckily we quickly found a pod of three whales - mother, calf and male escort - and we spent about an hour with them as they headed slowly along the coastline, stopping frequently to breach and play. We've seen whales before as we live in BC, Canada, but never from a canoe of any kind so that was very neat. Beautiful setting also with the sun just coming up over the mountain to the east behind Wailea. Very professional people, well kept and superb outrigger and we were lucky enough to find some obliging whales too! Highly recommended.

My husband & I were on our 3rd Maui trip but had never done an outrigger experience while whale watching. We did some research and didn't want to combine snorkeling with whale watch. We're fairly fit and kayak in warmer months at home.

If you drive to the hotel, you have to use the valet parking, there is no self parking available. The hotel grounds are pretty expansive, you have to go down several paths straight to beach where there's a check in desk.

Alec, our guide introduced himself to us & the 3 other adults (6 in total). The canoe and paddles looked to be in decent shape. We had a brief paddling lesson on land & the dry bag was passed around for people's keys, wallets & phone. The life jackets were all strapped together between the 5th & 6th sear where Alec sat. There was no mention of them otherwise and nobody chose to wear them.

It was a beautiul, sunny day with calm water and no winds. We had been paddling for about 30 minutes before seeing any blowholes. Alec, would guide us in the direction. Then we started to spot breaching Mother & calf and many playful sightings of tails & fins. We did quite a bit of paddling, almost 3 hours. At one point, we met up with another group and the gude took our pic a few times. We received about 3 pics and there wasn't any clear ones.

Alec was pleasant and put the microphone in the ocean a few times so you could hear the whales from a distance. It was a good experience and we had many sightings. It def. was a good workout too.

My wife and I had a great time snorkeling with the turtles. Every employee was very professional while also being extremely friendly at the same time. Our guide Ricky brought us to a great spot to go snorkeling and got to see sea turtles, hold and see octopi, and plenty of other sea life. The tour also took photos of us free of charge that we could save and keep as great memories.

Also the canoeing was easy and not too strenuous.

I was on Maui for a quick work trip and didn't have a lot of free time for fun activities. A friend had recommended this outfit to take an outrigger canoe/snorkel tour. It was the best decision I made on island! Ricky was absolutely awesome! One member of our group mentioned he desperately wanted to see a turtle, Ricky swam with us to several locations to make sure we not only saw turtles but we got to swim next to them! Ricky was so informative and he even took pictures which he distributed to all of us after the tour. Above and beyond what many tour guides do. I will always treasure the photos he took of us holding pencil urchins, swimming with turtles and the unique sea slug we saw. Thank you so much for a memorable trip!

Note for future travelers: you should be a strong swimmer and paddling the canoe is only 15 min each way to the site.

If you are in Wailea during whale season and maybe more specifically in February, you must go out on the outrigger to see them. Our guide Kekoa was excellent, patient, friendly, knowledgeable, I'm guessing he is a whale whisperer because we were able to see so many and get really close to quite a few. He also took lots of great photos for us on our trip. I highly recommend doing this!! If we had more time, we would have done the outrigger and snorkeling trip....next time!

And if you are lucky enough to have Holly-Akela book it for you (activity desk at the Andaz), you may make a friend for life! She can hook up you with the fun activities and has experienced them herself so she can give you first hand account on how amazing they are.

Great experience all around!

We booked the Road to Hana day trip for Aug. 5, 2021. Jake was our guide and he was really knowledgeable and personable, so much so that our family of 6 felt comfortable with him right away. We had a great time at the waterfall we were able to stop at, everyone enjoyed the rope swing and jumping into the water. Not all of the waterfalls were available, as it rained very hard that day and they were too full, but we hiked to a few different beaches, and enjoyed all of the stops. Lunch in Hana was delicious, and we appreciated having a guide who is comfortable making that drive, it’s easy to see why people experience issues on that road. We do plan on utilizing Maui Pacific Tours during future vacations 😊

Edward was our guide and driver on a full-day tour. We saw the entire Road to Hana, but we got so much more than that. We enjoyed a full circle, taking in the slope of Haleakalā and the south side of the island. Edward shared many things about life on Maui and the history of the island. At one point we were stopped in the middle of a cattle drive, which was fun. We also sampled lots of fruit growing along the side of the road.

Once we got into the tropical jungle, we stoped at many overlooks and waterfalls as you would expect. And of course we visited a red sand beach and a black sand beach. The two highlights for us were a little off the beaten path. Swimming in the Venus Pool and hiking to a waterfall 15 minutes off the road were things we will never forget. The waterfall was really spectacular, and we never would have found it on our own. Swimming in the pool of a tropical waterfall is pure bliss.

Edward gave us such a pleasant day. It’s one our family will remember forever.

My wife and I had an amazing time paddling out with another couple and a guide in an outrigger canoe to see the whales up-close and personal. The whales literally swam right under our canoe! They were coming up for air and playing right around our boat! It was amazing to see these magnificent creatures so close. The guide was knowledgeable about whales and their migration and feeding habits. It was a good little workout paddling as a team as well. It made me feel more connected with the natural surroundings. Although the website had advertised it as a snorkel and whale watching tour we only had time to paddle out and whale watch, which was fine but just beware if you were planning on doing both, you won’t be snorkeling on the whale watch tour. Overall a really fun time!

We did an outrigger canoe tour from 7 am to 8 am, and it was an amazing experience. I have always wanted to travel in a canoe like this. The guide was great and full of local knowledge. It's always great to do a tour with a local who has a passion for what he is doing. We learned the paddle strokes quickly and our guide barked out the Hawaiian terms for switching sides, stopping, etc. It was a lot of fun. The reefs and water off of Wailea are amazing. I recommend the morning tour before the sun gets super hot. We loved it.

what a great experience. this is something I always wanted to do and we finally were able to do it. Jacob was our guide and made the whole experience awesome. We were able to snorkel with the turtles and he even sang halfway through the excursion. I would recommend this to anyone.
