This is a great small museum but don't let yourself be fooled by the size. And in a beautiful building too. Definitely a place one have to visit. Do not miss it!
So many information about Ilulissat and its history, about local people, their lifes, geography and much more. it is tightly packed with lots of interesting information. If one gave to take in everythink you can spend quite some time there. There are many traditional greenlandic things for daily life and many other displays.
Remember: Shoes off at the entrance.

I thought the museum was ok but not a “must see” attraction. We spent about 30 minutes here.
I thought that the art museum was more interesting. Both museums have the same opening hours and are 5 minutes apart. Neither has a bathroom.

The museum is free on June 7 as it is Knud Rasmussen’s birthday when I went. It’s worth a short visit with information and some historical photos.

most of the explanations are written in Greenlandic and Danish and only few in English.
since we can't read neither Greenlandic nor Danish but only English -- we couldn't understand the exhibits and the photos displayed in the museum.
There is an interesting black and white film about the life of the inuits .
Good for a rainy day if there is nothing else to do.

Small but packed with information about the area, it's tucked down at the end of one of the roads. Also some nice displays of sleds, etc in the yard outside ... There's a big hill behind the museum that's worth a climb for a breathtaking view of the ice flows and the lovely church in the foreground

Possibly not the highlight of our trip but it holds lots of information and we learned a lot about how the Inuit arrived in Greenland and the history of the people. If you are land bound due to weather then this is a good way to spend an hour or so.

We went on the last day, waiting to leave. Mistake. It is a charming and informative place and there is lots to learn. I would have gone again if I had had time.

A great little place full of history and if you buy a ticket you also get one for the art museum for free so we would recommend. Really nicely set out, some beautiful things that explain the Inuit way of life. We enjoyed our visit and the view of the church and the bay is really nice

This museum is housed in the former family home of Arctic explorer par excellence Knud Admussen, whose mapping and explorations of the northern regions helped pave the way for other Arctic explorers. But in addition to the gallery dedicated to him, are other galleries on the Disko Bay region, local fauna, geology, history of Greenland, you name it. An engrossing 45 minutes and close to other tourist sites, so it's easy to fit into a "circuit" of sightseeing. DO NOT MISS
