This was an adventure of a lifetime which I took in winter time. Even though it was cold up on deck, there was a nice warm cabin that you could retreat to and have a cup of coffee and see the sights from inside. But you really didn't want to stay inside for too long, because the scenery was incredible. Despite the cold, everyone had a great time. Our guide was very helpful and spoke perfect English, but I also know that he also speaks Danish. He provided us with good information about the glacier and the icebergs. We even made a stop alongside an iceberg to collect some glacier ice for a cocktail that our guide made for each of us. This was well worth it and I highly recommend this adventure to anyone at anytime of the year.

I took a 2.5 iceberg tour and it was simply incredible! The ice is stunning with a stunning variety of shapes and colors. Disko Line Explorer was wonderful. Disko Line Explorer made the trip easy and very pleasant. We were picked up from their office in the center of town and brought straight to the boat. On board, there were plenty of indoor and outdoor viewing options. It was bitter cold, so it was really nice to be able to duck inside grab tea or a blanket, which Disko Line provides. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable and even made a nice little iceberg cocktail for us.

I took a whale safari with Disko Line Explorer and it was superb from beginning to end. The crew was welcoming, friendly and informative. I was lucky that on my cruise we saw a couple of whales (and some seals). The crew were very patient and persistent at finding whales for those on board to see.
I am very satisfied with my whale cruise and I would certainly recommend it.

My original time was moved from the Monday to the Tuesday, luckily I had some flexibility which you need when you to to Illusiat with the weather. I think it was as there were a few big ships in and they were probably overbooked, however the day I went, the other ten people didn't show up and the captain and guide still took me out on the Icefjord tour so I cannot complain I had the most wonderful time and it was essentially a private tour. The views are amazing whatever the weather. Once in a lifetime experience

The whole trip was just amazing and was the highlight of our stay in Greenland. If you can only afford one excursion this is the one and Disco Line explorer are the company to go with. From the staff at the central office under manager sarah who could not be more helpful to our tour guide Magnus who was superb. He was friendly, informative and went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. The trip was not rushed and there was plenty of room for everyone to get great views. The boat went up close to the icebergs and the scenery was simply breath taking. A once in a lifetime experience that we could not recommend highly enough.

A fantastic experience. The trip was well planned from start till the end. The guide Sara and the trainee were very informative. Plenty of possibilities for great pictures and are you getting cold and need a break, there will be coffee/ the inside. I can higly recommend the boattrip on the disco Bay with DISCO LINE EXPLORER. The are there for the tourists.

We did book and paid the Wale Safari tour in February. We booked the morning (10AM) tour for a Thursday end of June. On the Tuesday evening before departure I did got a mail that the tour was rescheduled for 12:30. No reason given, no options. What is the point of booking ahead this way?
At Thursday we were brought to the harbor were we needed to wait for the boat coming back from the morning (!) Whale Safari. We could board at 12:40.
The passengers of the morning tour did say they did see allot of whales. We did see 3 whales, among a mother and calf. They did take 3 times a deep dive showing their tales. The rest of the time they did show themselves frequently, but mostly far away. Lucky I have a 30x zoom camera. One time they did come a bit closer to the boat. It was not the best (and not the worst either) Whale Safari we had, but of course, trips can differ, it is also a matter of luck. One trip can be amazing and the other less. That is part of the deal.

The big bonus of this trip were the icebergs. Another positive point: The boat was good for the Whale spotting purposes. We could walk around and go on roof of the cabin.
The cabin was warm and did had room enough for all tourists.
We were almost 3 hours on the water.
I do recommend to do a Whale Safari, but maybe using another company if you want to book ahead.
The second trip we did with Disko Explorer was to the Egi Glacier. We booked this trip with World of Greenland including the overnight stay in Egi Lodge. But the boat trip was done by Disko Explorer. The trip was the same for Egi Lodge passengers and day tour passengers, except the Egi Lodge passengers split the trip in two.
The tour did start a half hour late. This delay was caught up be staying 1.5 hours at the front of the glacier instead of 2 hours as promised in the tour description.
The sail to the glacier (and back) was beautiful. I did stay both trips outside to see surroundings. The glacier edge was great and we did see pretty large calving. Highly recommended.
We both did not like the lunch they provided. I did throw away most of it. But this can be a matter of taste.
Strange thing was when we disembark at Port Victor (Egi Lodge) somebody did tell us that we could leave our luggage. I did not believe that an did take our luggage with us. Others needed to hurry back to collect their luggage.

Regarding your rescheduled whale safari it is however clarified in our terms of trade that we can change time of departure with short notice regardless of the trip being booked ahead of time. The change in timetable can be due to technical issues, the weather etc.
We apologise for not providing you with a reason for the rescheduling and will of course provide such for the future.
We hope the whales, the icebergs and the Eqi glacier were a great sight and adventure for you.
Furthermore, we hope you enjoyed your time here in Ilulissat and that Greenland was everything you dreamed of.
