Authentic Cuba Definitely stop here
Mar 2020 • Solo
This city is definitely worth a visit. Wealthy town with renovated buildings and friendly Cubans. Much cheaper than Havana

Nice view along the bay

This Malecon is quite long, but is the only way to reach the Palace in Punta Gorda, unless you take a local bus or taxi.

Lovely sunset
Dec 2019
This is a very pretty walk out to the point where there are several places to eat or have a drink. The walk back showed us a spectacular sunset

the river frontage

bit windswept, but good views, some good cafes. Wlak once down to the southern tip. It links straight into the main road which beautiful faded arcades of shops and cafes.

Ok, nothing special
Nov 2019
Maybe it was just a grey dull day, but to me it was a windy walk by the seaside. It could have glimpses of being good but the wind swept it away

Nice walk!

It's a nice walk from the city center to la Punta. You pass some palaces and old casino's. If you are tired you can take a tuktuk are a bicy taxi to go back.

Beautiful views
Aug 2019
Nice walk along the malecon, hardly anyone around and you can watch the sunset in peace.
Walk to the end and you come to a bandstand where you are able to sit and watch the sea and the birds right on a peninsular

Cienfuegos promenade
Mar 2019
Palm-lined promenade along the slender peninsula to Punta Gorda. You’re just as likely to encounter tourists with cameras as locals with boom boxes blaring raggaeton. We walked it on a March evening and it was cool enough to wear a sweater.

A must see!!

You'll fall in love with Malecone. Being a drink and sit and see the wonders of life. Young and old go and stay, listen to music, dance, drink a beer or whatever you want. No problem with safety. All good.

Pedi Cab/bicycle tour of the Malecon & Punta Gorda
Mar 2019 • Couples
We had a cruise port day in Cienfuegos. We suspected most people would get off the ship and head straight for Jose Marti Parque/Central Park for shopping, etc.... To avoid the crowds we headed the opposite direction towards Punta Gorda and then ended our day at Jose Marti Parque.

We wandered away from the ship and eventually were able to find a pedi-cab to arrange a 3 hr bicycle tour. Unfortunately finding a driver who speaks English is a challenge. We needed 3 pedi-cabs and were fortunate enough to find 1 who spoke English. We spent the time heading down the Malecon, stopping along the way at various tourist attractions, grabbing a cold cerveza for the bike ride and finally ending at Punta Gorda. We had mojitos on the beach at Punta Gorda. Personally I think the alcohol they used was watered down, but who knows.

Anyhow, made for a fun afternoon once we finally found a pedi-cab. They are not allowed to congregate near the ship. Much prefer to pre-arrange our activities so as to not waste time finding someone, negotiating price, etc..... Be sure and clarify whether the pedi cab prices are per person or per bike. They try to "get you" with that!

Our English speaking pedi cab driver was Alfredo Nodal. You can reach him at alfredo8408@nauta.cu and my gmail alfredonodal84@gmail.com if you prefer to arrange in advance and save yourself some time upon arrival.

Our tour ended with being dropped off at Jose Marti Parque for shopping before returning to the ship. By this time the crowds had left the park and it was perfect! Shopping prices seemed to be better in Cienfuegos than Havana.
