- CourtneyCKMinneapolis, Minnesota67 contributionsIsabella from atop a horsePerfect morning for a horseback ride. Fun to see the ocean and beach from a different perspective. Staff all very friendly from check in through the ride and dismount. Stella was a good horse and enjoyed her snacks. Would recommend with no hesitation.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 23, 2024
- CazHeck6 contributionsThe Best Beach Trail Ride in Puerto Rico!It was so great getting 'back in the saddle' after a few years and the horses were excellent (well trained, responsive & smooth gaited!)! Albert was a great guide, and the 2-hour private tour was excellent for experienced riders (loved the canter on the beach!). Stunning scenery and would def. go again when visiting Rincon in the future!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 13, 2024
- Sara V1 contributionGreat Experience! We love Javier!Tropical Trail Rides is a gem we’ve had the pleasure of visiting twice—once when they first opened and now over 20 years later. Both experiences were phenomenal. The horses are beautiful and clearly well-cared for, and the trail and beaches are simply breathtaking. The staff are especially wonderful, with our guide, Javier, making our most recent trip truly exceptional. Bilingual and incredibly knowledgeable about the island, Javier shared fascinating insights throughout the ride and was wonderful with the children. His warm, engaging personality made the journey even more enjoyable, and his passion for both the horses and the island shines through in every interaction. Highly recommend!Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 25, 2024

The entire experience from start to finish was absolutely incredible. This was my family’s first time ever horseback riding and I was nervous and they explained everything very patiently and assured us everything would be smooth . The entire ride was beautiful and the horses were wonderful and gentle . When we stopped at survival beach to rest and take pictures it was so beautiful. Our guide Doug was an absolute riot , he was very positive and funny , and kept us laughing . I liked that Doug kept checking on us inexperienced riders and made sure we were comfortable and at ease . I would highly recommend this tour .

My 3 year old daughter and I went on the ride together. Our horse was incredibly well behaved and our trail guide was perfectly attentive to our needs. We had so much fun! My little daughter has asked to go again and again!

This was my second time riding with them and I can’t wait to do it again. The horses only do 2 rides a day and get bathed and eat like 4 times a day so that made me happy. If you go ask for Doug he’s hilarious and our ride was so fun. Every time you start trotting his catch phrase is FIRE EM UP

We were a group of 6, 5 being 1st time riders. We were all paired wth great mounts. Me being a experience rider, I can say that Tropical Trail rides is by far the best guided rides I've been on. Most guided rides your only allowed to walk...here you get to trot and even canter!!! I was allowed to take my beautiful steed Kawana into the ocean a little bit. She was awesome as were all the horses. All horses appeared to be very well taken care of. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and very nice. DOUG was our guide and was always coming back to check on our group.
If your looking for horseback riding in Puerto Rico Tropical Trail rides should 100% be your pick!!

We had a wonderful time during our 2 hour morning group trail ride! I rode on sweet Smokey and my husband rode on headstrong Zeus. Our guide, I believe his name was Doug, was funny, knowledgeable, communicative, and did a good job at putting us at ease. We have no real riding experience and felt challenged yet comfortable as we took the horses from a slow walk, up to a fast trot! The horses are well cared for and the staff were all friendly. The view from the beach is outstanding! The guide took time to allow everyone to take pictures and we never felt rushed. All in all, this experience totally exceeded our expectations. Well worth the money, would most definitely recommend!!!

Family of 5 (kids ages, 10, 10, & 15), all with limited riding experience which has consisted of trails rides on vacation back home in the States. I personally don’t enjoy trail rides, but my kids do…however, this was a great experience for all of us and very enjoyable! Long stretch of beach riding as well as some forest riding just off the beach. We did a 2hr private ride with Doug as our guide, who just recently joined the company from Montana. Doug was great and communicated with us the entire ride. The ability to ride on the secluded beach was a highlight, but also having the opportunity to trot the horses quit a bit. In the States is always a slow walk for liability reasons, but here we were all comfortable with a trot at times which made it a lot of fun. Never an issue with the horses, extremely well cared for and trained. Worth the 45minute drive from Rincon to have better scenary and more private trails than the local offerings.

Extraordinary. Life Changing. Exceeded expectations in every respect. We will definitely be doing this again - every time we come to PR. Our guide, Doug was awesome. I (mom) had my 5 kiddos with me - 8, 14, 15, 17, and 18. All of them have not stopped talking about how surreal it was. We have been to Puerto Rico about 2 dozen times in the past 2 decades. We know the island, and this is something we never experienced. The owners take such great care of the horses - a beautiful, humane, and disciplined operation. If you only have one thing you can invest in beyond the beach, pick this. All day long. We cannot say enough great things!

This experience was one that I would not only recommend but plan to return and do again! Our guide John was friendly, humorous, and very well educated in horse back riding. He guided us along terrain That was laden with earthy vibes and rich in history, then led us to the beaches where we took opportunistic photos with our two precious caballos (horses) Crystal and Atrevida. He was attentive to everyone’s needs in the group and showed a great command over the horses that followed his lead. Hands down best day while on vacation in Puerto Rico this time around!

Great stables. Horses are well kept and well feed. Was able to trot the paso fino gait on the beach. These horses have a unique gait and it us worth trying something different.

The trail was amazing. I was scared at first because I'm an experimented rider and I didn't want to be bored but it was not the case. The guide adapted to everybody's level and was always making sure everybody was feeling good. He told us about our horses and we could see that he was passioned about his job. The horses are very well treated, and that's like the most important thing. So, thank you for an amazing ride and stunning beach! I recommend it to everybody!

Is there a waiting area if you have someone in your group for who cannot ride for physicality reasons or someone who does not meet the weight limit?
Written December 26, 2018
Yes there is a waiting area and they also try to work out situations with persons with special needs.

Hello! I've been to TTR many times with my dad, Segundo & loved it! I want to take a trip with a guest first week in august. Is it possible to make reservation? your online calendar only goes up to June.

We recommend long pants or shorts with a long dry towel to prevent chafing of legs. Closed toe shoes are best for your feet such as tennis shoes, sneakers, or boots.

I called to ask about their cash rate and they said you have to reserve online, pay with credit card and then when you arrive on the day of your reservation, they'll refund your credit card once you give them cash. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm a bit skeptical about trusting that my money will be refunded through my credit card.
Written March 6, 2017
We have been in business for 22 years and have never had a problem refunding a credit card. If you are skeptical or do not feel comfortable being refunded, you can simply leave it on your credit card.
Another option is to call us directly to book. We will just put a hold on your card until you arrive and decide what payment method you like. Hope this helps.

I am a travel agent who is looking for an Outfitter who operates multi day different horse back rides for a group of about 8-10 women in their 50-70s who are happy to walk, trot and a little cantering maybe on the beach. They are looking to ride at least 4-5 days for different rides. Do you operate this type of rides or are you only in one location? If you don't do this, can you tell me who does multi day trips in the hills and beaches etc. thank you,

This is just one location that does the same trail ride twice daily. I don't think there is anything like what you are looking for around here.
Written August 5, 2016
The cost is $55 per person cash or credit card is $60 each for our two hour ride. Kids 2-5 years old pay $30. Private rides are available at $90 per person cash or credit card is $99 each with 2 person minimum.

Yes; We did not make reservations to Tropical Trail Rides as I stated in my review. We called in Route and were told to continue to make the trip. They do offer riding in San Juan at Ecco Tours. Regardless of making reservations or not what happened to "friendly" customer service? We were not "upset" about not having a reserved horse we were "upset" at the customer service; the additional fees that were asked to be incurred on our trip because we did not make reservations lets be clear it is more then an issue of not making reservations. What was offered to us was $80 per person because we did not make reservations. $80 per person would equate to a private ride by a "so called" manager. Lets be realistic.. The credit card was the issue and as a previous rider stated the credit card fee is $55. not $50. be honest with guest before they make the trip regarding your cash and credit card policy.

yes we totally enjoyed our ride and staff were very helpful . we had a problem getting out there as the GPS steered us wrong but we called and they directed us . We had a party of ^ and they told us to make reservations as it was a distance to drive there. Great ride out on the beach and although it rained some the guide made it very nice.
