Rural Rootz is an amazing place for nature and garden lovers! The owners created gardens and paths with mainly natural materials and gifted plants while trying to maintain the natural aspects of the grounds.
Tom and Dee are very enthusiastic and generous hosts and they are very willing to explain what they have done and why. It was a very inspiring visit for us as well!

I did a Forest Therapy walk in the morning, followed by tea with Tom and Dee in the guest shop, a hike on The Bruce Trail loop on their property, and a walk in their beautiful gardens, including a sound garden and labyrinth. Tom and Dee are generous and welcoming hosts, stewarding this 100-acre property for the enjoyment of their guests and future generations. Easy to spend a day here -- or longer, if you arrange to stay overnight in your own RV or their accommodations.

Stayed overnight with Harvest Host.

Tom and Dee have done a super job of this retreat in the woods. Beautiful gardens, inspiring hosts with many artistic talents and a wonderful attitude to life.

Very inspiring visit, wonderful hosts.

A hidden gem, with gardens, walking paths, dragons, and a labyrinth you can walk.

Our trail at Rural Rootz is available 24/7 as Rural Rocks Side Trail, part of the Bruce Trail. However our internal trail system is available during our "open" hours or by appointment. 7 unique forest trails totaling 7 km. Come and "Expose yourself to nature."

MsDee and Tom welcome me with open arms and heart. They are my spiritual parents. This spiritual paradise has a feeling of bliss, you can feel all of the outside noise disappear as you enter the magical gardens. Thank you for being you. xox

Loved the hike. The scenery varies deeply across the 2+ hours. Huge boulders, caves, forest, lake, and wildlife. Do this one on a weekend so you don’t have to listen to the equipment in the quarry down the road while you walk the trails. Also be aware that this is not a hike for inexperienced children. There are some dangerous transitions in the rock segment that would challenge some adults. Our kids wear good boots and are climbers so no problems but we even had some close call slips and trips.

Though I have lived in Bruce County my entire life, I had never heard of Rural Rootz until it showed up on the Explore the Bruce passport this summer. What a great find! The owner greeted us and told us a bit about the background of the place and sent us off on a nice little hike to explore the caves. We didn’t have time to walk all of the trails, but we would like to return for some more adventure. There are some neat gardens, a shop where you can buy local art, and more! We had a great afternoon.

I am forever grateful to have discovered Rural Rootz several years ago during a time of transition in my life. The sacred space lovingly tended by Tom and Dee, welcomed me with open arms. I have since returned often; to connect, discover, purchase a perennial plant or another thoughtful gift item, and always leave feeling restored. Thank you ❤️🌹

Yes! Boots and water, a good idea, there are 7 km of hiking trails on this 100 acre reserve. However if you forget your water we'll serve you a glass of Sunshine Tea. Thanks for your visit.

Visiting Tom and Dee is most delightful. Very engaging and hospitable close to downtown Wiarton on county road 13. The trail is also a fun experience to enjoy. A bit of an adventure going up and down thru rock and trees.

The good folks who built the Rural Rocks Sidetrail, told us they found the broadest spectrum of Bruce Trail ecologies in the smallest physical area (100 acres) of anywhere in the entire Bruce Trail system. What a blessing that we had the option to keep it green.
