- Bob Findysz3 contributionsA nighttime stroll down main streetWhile staying at an AIRBNB for a few days, we went for an evening stroll before eating supper out. August is just too hot to walk around outside before sundown. Found the mall mostly closed down early for the night. Little to attract strollers. Except for eateries and night life. We made the best of it.Visited August 2021Written September 2, 2021
- bfindyszJerusalem District, Israel655 contributionsA safe beat on the pedestrian mallLast summer I strolled here on an unbearably hot, humid day and stopped at Gotcha Cafe because they had fans inside to relieve the heat. Today was a beautiful, sunny and warm winter day. Stopped again this time to sit in the shade outside this watering hole. Good coffee and ice cream. Efficient service.Visited March 2020Traveled with friendsWritten March 11, 2020
- Y. LebovitsJerusalem District, Israel6 contributionsA lovely lazy stroll on a very quaint streetThe cobblestoned street is not very long, but it is lined with many historical structures and tasty shops. Quaint shops selling art, clothing, antiques, souvenirs, and many restaurants. Some of the hidden alleyways also offer some interesting shops.Visited October 2021Written October 15, 2021

Been there for a half day with my daughter and dog. We liked the panoramic view of the town. We liked the shopping in the NIDREHOV and the beautiful old houses along the main street of the center. People are very nice. It is a quiet place and very pleasant. Loved the icecream shop.

In the heart of Zichron Yaakov the pedestrian mall is an experience that should not be missed. Each step is a leap back in history to the late 19th century. Original buildings now house stores, restaurants and bars while the story of the pioneers is told an street boards and signs. Inspiring and enjoyable.

Here on a weekend, most of the stores are closed, and in terms of culinary there aren’t too many options which are worth mentioning. In addition the pedestrian road is a bit shabby and dirty. Too bad as the is place has a lot of potential.

We spent a pleasant hour wandering round the shops and galleries here. Very relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff in the stores. Also visited the Rothschild Gardens which were immaculate, and an oasis of calm and tranquility.

Zichron Yaakov is a wonderful place to visit. There is so much to see and to do. The Pedestrian Mall has great shops, But the highlights of being there are two of the fascinating places to visit. The First Aliyah Museum tells the story of the people who came to Palestine in the 1800's. It was not an easy life and their story is very interesting. Down the street is another museum called the Aaronsohn House N.I.L.I Museum. That museum is fascinating. It tells the story of 30 people who became the first underground movement to operate in Palestine starting in 1915 and helped the British defeat the Turks by supplying intelligence to the British soldiers. It is amazing how effective this small group was. Their story ends with their capture and the end of the N.I.L.I movement. It was the first underground movement in Israel's history but not the last. You come away with a true understanding of what people will go through for a cause they believei in. The original buildings have been preserved.

It is not our first time here and probably not the last .
Located at the pedestrian closed section of Hameyasdim street , very touristic , yet very calm and unhurried . Lots of historical renovated buildings and "courtyards" , shops , galleries , eateries and bars . May get very crowded on weekends and summer , and not easy to find a parking space . Today , noon time on a mid November sunny cool day , the pedestrian street is not packed , and we have easily found a parking place only 5 minutes walk away . Recommended .

Zichron Yaakov is such a special place in Israel. We love it and have come many times while visiting from America. And one of the many nice things about Zichron is the Pedestrian Mall. Great restaurants, nice shops, historic sites, and a wonderful atmosphere. Love it.

This place has a long and complicated history involving the Rothschilds and spies and the British. They have preserved many of the older buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries with a series of small boutiques and shops. Plenty of places to stop and eat in between shop visits.

The "midrachov" or the center of town is paved in cobblestone. It is a quaint pedestrian road with restaurants , cafes, assorted small shops , artist/craft studios , winery's big and small and two museum gems explaining the local colorful history of Zichron Yaacov and Israel. Some are tucked down narrow alleyways or patios of private houses. There is the occasional musician playing in the street. Small and cozy. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area or driving down the costal highway

Could be dangerous to walk there during Passover time? Will they have any restaurant kosher for Pessach?

Certainly not dangerous. A very peaceful place. I don't know which restaurants would be Kosher for Passover. If you're visiting from outside the country you need to know that some restaurants will say that they're Kosher for Passover and open, but if you do not eat kitniot and it matters to you, you need to ask if they're Kosher for people who do not eat Kitniot.
