We decided to take a carriage ride last minute. We showed up at 8pm on a Monday, there was availabilty and just like that the carriage was full. I believe our tour guides name was Guy. He let my daughter feed the horse a few carrots and also let her steer the horse. Allowed for photo ops with the horse, so that great. Guy was very knowledgable on the history of Natchez, he took us to the various historical
homes and sites. This was a really lovely carriage ride. Would highly recommend and it was also not super exoensive.

Our family enjoyed an ~50 minute tour last evening. Guy shared many interesting facts and stories about the lovely churches, homes, and businesses in historical Natchez and had an easy, conversational style. The scene-stealer is big, sweet Hal, who pulled our carriage easily and really soaked up the attention and treats from Guy and us. At $20 for adults ($10 kids), it was a great value. Recommend!!

I am so glad we decided to do the carriage tour. Randy was our guide and he was hilarious, but so full of history! He told us about the good, the bad and the ugly that happened in Natchez during the Antebellum days. He recommended restaurants and places to see. It was well worth the $20 per person fee. You won’t be disappointed!

Mehhhh. My kids have been asking to take a carriage ride for years. Many cities offer them and the answer has always been no, no, no. When looking for a historic tour of Natchez, I stumbled upon Southern Carriage Tours and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to say YES.
The actual horse drawn carriage part was a novelty for the kids that they did enjoy. We had some difficulty figuring out exactly WHEN the tours left and WHERE they departed from, but in the end we showed up right on time for the first tour of the day and didn't waste any time waiting. The price was $20 for adults and $10 for kids, resulting in a total of $100 for our group of 8 (plus tip).
The tour could have definitely been better. The guide was friendly enough but was not an exceptional orator, nor particularly engaging. He had a handful of good jokes, but they were delivered awkwardly.
If you love carriage tours, this fits the bill, but if you're looking for a good historic tour of Natchez, I'd look elsewhere.

It was a nice carriage ride, but not worth the price. We had seen online that it was $20 per person, and tucked behind a bench was a chalkboard with $20 written on it. But the tour guide said that he had just been instructed to raise the price to $30 per person. And he was a good tour guide. But it was not worth the $60 per couple price.

Wish I could give this ZERO stars. Because I didn't get a tour at all. First, there is NO WEBSITE for this company that would give you basic information like, for example, where they are located, the times of the tours, the price, and how to make reservations. No, that would be too easy. Instead there is only a number to call. But wait - no one answer the number and you are told to call yet another number. And yes - you guessed it - no one answers that number either, it goes straight to a voicemail without giving any information or even identifying the company. Clearly, they aren't anxious to provide tours to people visiting this city since you basically can't get hold of them. Oh, and don't bother calling the Visitor's Center to get information, they don't answer the phone there, either.

Facebook msg'd Randy before our trip to Natchez and he got back right away. If you arrive for the ride and Randy's on tour, there's a white board posted saying when he'll be back. Good business sense. Randy was very knowledgeable about the history of Natchez and talked most of the way around town, waving to the locals. Fun stories about town as well. Made recommendations about what else to see while in town as well. Highly recommend!

Don’t question just go !! The tour is a big loop of houses and oddities with stories. The coaches are roomy and the tour guide is personable and Hank (horse) is beautiful and sweet. The tour actually gives a lot of historical comedy. Just go you won’t be sorry !! PS if you want to make Hank smile he likes carrots and fig Newton’s

We absolutely love the carriage ride. We come every year and have taken several tours. I highly recommend taking a ride during the day and another at night. To see the city during both times is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for such a wonderful and relaxing ride. Guy and Hal have been our go to each and every year! See you again in a year!

1. How big are the carriages? Can they accommodate a family of 8? Two adults and six kids ages 2-10.
2. What time does the tour depart? We will be there on a Saturday morning in June.
Written March 28, 2023
As I recall, there are three bench seats in the carriage and a family of 8 would probably fit just fine. I think times vary based on season and weather. It would be best to make reservations ahead of time.

I did this tour back in 2015- so amazing! But I can’t remember why I was told to run up the steps of one of the grand old houses?! I was happy to do it (love a spooky story) but can’t remember what the tale was that the guide told to get me to run up there? Help?!

Where do you find this carriage tour and do they have evening tours
Written June 22, 2019
Yes ma’am, they have different times. Canals Street in Downtown across from a bar “The Corner...” something like that.

Hello we are visiting from Florida. I am currently homeschooling my 4 girls and was seeing if you offer any homeschooler discount. This tour looks perfect for an afternoon field trip.
Written February 11, 2018
We homeschool too & there was not a discount, but we enjoyed the advantage of going on a weekday without many people. We didn’t have to wait.
Written February 11, 2018
It's a forty minute narrated tour. Adults are $20. Children 10 and under are $10. There is no charge for babies.

I'm not sure but I suspect they run year round. It is a great attraction. You will enjoy it.

Does the tour operate in December?
Will you pick up and drop off at my Bed & Breakfast (Wilkens Town House)?
Written November 2, 2016
You may be able to make special arrangements, but we went to the designated location. Nothing is too far in Natchez.
