My husband and I went on the Longwood tour this past February in the afternoon. The home itself is incredibly beautiful and the fact that you can see the unfinished build is fascinating and informative from an architectural stand point. I loved being able to see the finished floor in conjunction with the unfinished floors to help showcase the process of start to finish. It was just my husband and I on the tour which made it even better. Our tour guide was very accommodating with the many pictures we took on the 2nd floor. No pictures are allowed of the first floor. I highly recommend this tour. The day we went it was raining so it was a chilly on the unfinished 2nd floor but the exterior is complete so it is not exposed to the elements.

My sister and I signed up at the last minute for the Burn House wine and piano tour after a long day touring other sites including Longwood Mansion and Stanton Hall. This proved to be the most enjoyable of the three. We were the only ones participating, so it was basically a private event. We were given a glass of wine as we were shown around the home by a pleasant guide. At the conclusion, we had our glasses refilled and sat in the parlor enjoying a wonderful piano concert of primarily classical music by a wonderfully talented player, who happened to be our tour guide earlier in the day at Longwood. It was a wonderful relaxing early evening. I highly recommend it if anyone is in the area on a day when it is offered (only on selected Thursdays and Fridays).

My husband and I visited Stanton Hall, Longwood, and Magnolia Hall during a 3 day visit to Natchez, and we highly recommend them! (Yes, men enjoy the history in these homes too!) You can do one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and still have time for lunch or a nap! These homes have fascinating stories to tell, and the women that tell them are wonderful. They are dedicated to preserving these homes (an enormous responsibility) and bringing to life the people that lived in them. Gaye was our tour guide at Longwood and her knowledge was extensive; however, it was the way she humanized the occupants that made the past and present just a heartbeat apart. Our group talked and laughed and learned...
Thank-you, ladies, for all you do.

We are history and gardens nuts. This was our first time in Natchez, and we came specifically to see the houses and gardens.
Stanton Hall was all we expected - beautifully kept and preserved. Carolyn was a great guide to the ground floor, and added much to the visit. It was a pleasure to play the Hardman piano! Sweet Young Man needs some more help with his turn upstairs. Gardens are minimal.
Longwood was much more, and much less, than we expected. The basement was quite good, with much of the original furnishings. But the bare bones of the upper floors are absolutely stunning! It feels much more like a living being than the museums of the finished floors. This alone was worth the trip. The outbuildings are interesting. However, no apparent effort has been made to conserve the abundant relics: the tools, personal effects, millwork, and so forth have been left to rust and rot. These items make a more intimate, personal statement about life there. This lack of conservation effort makes a statement as well, that the MS-DAR has an agenda inconsistent with historic preservation. This is a great shame.
We saved Rosalie for last, expecting great things of the gardens and grounds. We were disappointed. Yes, it's a period garden, so most of the ornamentals are non-native invasive species such as Mahonia. There was one little patch of daylilies, and a couple of Camellias. Azaleas and various hedge species abound. There are few botanical markers, and they don't have a map or guide. The tour staff didn't know anything about the gardens and was reluctant to call the gardener. In short, don't expect much except in azalea season. A disappointment indeed.

To summarize, the finished floors are a tribute to the grandeur of Antebellum Mississippi. We are natives of the Deep South, and were impressed and disturbed in equal measure. The unfinished floors are exceptional, and yet concerning. Don't go for the gardens.

As three friends we enjoyed using this company's website to book two days worth of tours for a March visit. The booking site was easily navigated and we secured tours time blocks for five different mansions.
My friends opted to print their tickets while I opted to download into my Google wallet. Both options worked fine at each home. Most just jotted down my booking code as they didn't have scanners.
Homes were beautiful, and various tour guides at each property did a great job explaining the original family's history, home's design, and area's history.

We toured Stanton Hall and Longwood. Stanton Hall is massive with many original furnishings. Really loved the members of the Natchez Garden club who were docents in each room. Much care and love has been given to the restoration and maintenance of this lovely home. Longwood is an octagonal home in a amazing six story Moorish architecture. It remains unfinished when the workers dropped their tools in 1861 when the Civil War began.

We loved our tour of Longwood! What an amazing building and fascinating story. The guides were friendly and relaxed. They allowed us to roam the grounds afterwards. You can make the tour in less than an hour, but I recommend more time to walk down to the little family cemetery, walk around the grounds taking pictures of the building from different angles, and to check out the shed in back with the old carriage, cotton measure, etc.

Stanton Hall is gorgeous! It truly depicts the Era with beautiful furniture, flooring, gasoliers and wood work. Although we didn't get to all the homes, I highly recommend this home. The series North and South was filmed here which made it even more interesting.

Wonderful historical tour. Our tour guide was great and answered all of our questions. If you are a history buff, or enjoy beautiful things, this has it all. The grounds are also just as lovely. If you are in Natchez I would highly recommend touring this site.

Tours of Rosalie, Longwood, and Stanton Hall. All tours were enjoyable. Longwood is recommended for the exterior alone but the finished parts of the interior and the first floor are well worth seeing. Stanton Hall was absolutely gorgeous and our tour guide, Chuck, was phenomenal.
