About
Take an in depth, narrated tour through the historic district of Natchez aboard a comfortable electric cart. The vehicle can accommodate up to 5 passengers, minimum of 2 people per tour, and after beginning the tour at the Visit Natchez Information Center, the tour continues to the site of the French fort, Rosalie, then on into town. It's a great way to get a good lay of the land when you first arrive, and helps you decide what else to see and do during your stay. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS are highly recommended, and the best way to book is to call 601-334-8916!

Sally, a Natchez native, knows Natchez backward and forward. Her interesting and engaging stories makes the history of the city come alive for tour participants. We enjoyed it completely and would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Natchez for the first time.

Sally is an excellent tour guide. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining! She presented a plethora of accurate, historic information while interjecting her personality with a sense of humor. She answered all of our questions and then some. And she seemed to know a lot of the townsfolk along the way. We would highly recommend this tour with Sally as a way to familiarize new visitors with a thorough overview of Natchez before they go out to explore on their own.

LOTS of Laughter and Loving Her Town! Sally IS Natchez. She epitomized exactly our stay in this absolutely, charming and beautiful place dotting the Mississippi River. One article I read named Natchez, “ the hippest non hip city,” and although I would agree with that statement, one could certainly not forget the genuine hospitality brought to life. Sally was a hoot to sharing the town with us. She made us feel at home, sharing antidotes, gave incredible historical information about people and structures, shared architectural gems from columned mansions to antique firehouse restorations. There were plenty of picture worthy stops offered. Her exuberance was contagious and her friendships were endless as we waved and offered greetings to fellow townspeople along her route as though in a Fourth of July Parade. She gained our friendship & now no visit would be complete there without Sally.

We had a wonderful tour of downtown Natchez with Sally! She was a joy to be around and shared so much of Natchez history! We especially loved her stories and her sense of humor. The fact that she knew so many people showed us how passionate she was about her job and her community! We appreciated the fact that safety was of utmost concern.....driving thru town, as well as Covid concerns! Her recommendation for Fried catfish and seafood was truly fulfilling! Best catfish ever! Thanks again Sally, You Rock!!

Sally was the best part of this tour. We have visited Natchez several times and never had the chance to take a guided tour. So glad we did. Sally puts heart and sole into every story she tells about the 30+ structures around the down town area. And....she is a great driver. Take it from the blonde, from Texas in the Tahoe. Thanks again Sally!!!

Beth, you are a riot! I know you worked hard to get me to mess up, but I'm a "safety first" nut. Sorry you lost "the bet", but delighted you guys had such a great time. I always love having people on board who appreciate the effort we put into our tour to make it fun and memorable. Y'all be safe out there in your travels, and thanks for the great review! Sally

Have a few days in “The Little Easy? A weekend? An hour? I recommend this tour! On a very leisurely self guided trip of the Mississippi Delta, I got to talking with the manager of a small railroad museum upstate about my travel plans. When she ran off suddenly and returned with the name of this business, its phone number, and accolades aplenty about Sally the owner, I knew it would be something that I would like!!
Sally, whose family has called Natchez home for generations, takes this little city and unravels its many layers like a sweet onion, teaching local history, and telling tales of local legends, while you cruise in comfort, catch the breezes, and enjoy watching the world go by. Natchez in particular is one of those places you’ll best appreciate with an engaging local guide. There surely is no one more fun than Sally to guide you- you’ll find yourself laughing and learning, letting history spring to life up the stairs of those graceful antebellum mansions, along the beautiful Bluffs that sidestep the Mighty Mississippi, and through the streets all over town. So many tales to tell and Sally weaves them together like a master storyteller without skipping a beat, hitting a pothole, or getting sidetracked when we managed to become part of the Memorial Day parade! One of my favorite memories of my two week Delta trip. Thank you, Sally!!

Thank you for the amazing review OWG! And thank you for your patience when we inadvertently wound up in the parade for a short time. It just added another fun dynamic to the tour :-). It's always super to hear that our guests had a great experience, and we take great pride in making sure that is the case on every run. It's always a joy to read such flattering reviews and we deeply appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Safe travels!

We highly recommend this tour, especially for first-time visitors to Natchez. Our guide was Laura, and she was delightful. Her love for the city and its history was obvious! Riding in the open-air at street level gave us a much more up-close experience than the buses, and we covered a lot more of the city than the carriage rides. We booked the last tour of the day, 4 p.m., and there was a breeze, so we did not get overheated, even for an August afternoon. OAT is the way to go!

Loved our tour guide Sally! She was so knowledgeable about the historic area of Natchez, has lived there all of her life. She was very entertaining and it was fun to see all of the people that knew her and waved along the way. It was the perfect start to our trip to Natchez and get the lay of the land before we started touring.

Thanks for the great review MadDunk. We are always happy, but never surprised, to hear you had such a wonderful time on board with Sally. She’s very well known and liked in the community, so no surprise that waves were exchanged along the way. Thanks again for the positive review and safe travels always!

Sally should be doing stand up at Comedy Central! She makes history hilariously fun while being totally factual and articulate. Her personality radiates throughout the tour as does her love of her hometown of Natchez. We felt blessed to have Sally as our tour guide. I urge everyone to partake of this informative and recreational experience with Open Air starring Sally Durkin!

5 out of 5 for us. I felt like we were family. We live a couple of hours from Natchez, and I felt like I was pretty familiar with the town. But man, I had no idea how little I knew! Sally is a 6th generation Natchezeesian (is that a thing?), and was just amazing as our guide. She joked before we started that everyone in Natchez knows everyone else, and before we finished the tour I believed her, based on the number of folks who waved and spoke. The open air cart was a lot of fun. As she shared Natchez tales, I almost got the sense she’d been eyewitness to all she told us. All that’s to say that I can’t recommend this tour too highly. It was that good. Natchez is a fascinating town, rich with history and amazing sights, and now I know it so much better.

Is there a tour map with sites listed available? What is the duration of the tour?
Written February 5, 2022
Hi Nick; sorry for the very delayed response, but happy to see others have answered your question. The tour route takes you through the downtown area and there are a number of historic homes along the way, but also a number of historic churches too. You learn about the various architectural styles that make up the city’s landscape, as well as hear stories of the people who had a significant impact on the development of the area. It takes about 45-60 min for the tour and you get a really good Kay of the land. Best way to book is to call us. 601-334-8916 is the number. Thanks and we hope we haven’t missed your visit!

Since we are coming from Kansas City and we will just be in Natchez one day, can I prepay for a tour on April 26,2018 so that we would be able to go on this tour. I can't find a phone number nor an email to contact the owners. Thank you so much

Hello we are visiting from Florida. I am currently homeschooling my 4 girls and was seeing if you offer any homeschooler discount. This tour looks perfect for an afternoon field trip.
Written February 11, 2018
Hi whitbo20....I’m sorry I didn’t see your question until just now. My notifications were turned off and I haven’t looked at TA in a while; obviously. I hope you were able get info from the visitor center and took the tour. We offer a discount for children regularly, depending on the ages. But the only additional discount we offer is to active military personnel. Thanks for your inquiry.
