Intimate Theatre
Sep 2019
I enjoy attending plays at MTC because its small and all the seats are good. They have a range of different types of plays,so attending with friends or by yourself you'll enjoy yourself. They sell wine and its allowed inside as well. The one negative thing is the main bathrooms as you walk in allow all genders to enter. So beware that if you are a woman, you may find a man walk in. But they do have gender specific bathrooms in a different area of the theater...although this should be pointed out before entering the other. Its rather startling when you have a man enter a bathroom when there is a line of women waiting to enter a stall.

This is a neat local theater -- good views from most seats. You can order wine to be waiting at intermission.

Original as well as Contemporary and Classical Plays Presented Here
Oct 2017 • Friends
I have seen two premier productions here, the lastest being 'Thomas and Sally', a play about Thomas Jefferson and his enslaved partner, Sally Heming. There is a freshness and capability that this company has that has drawn me from Los Gatos, an hour and a half drive, several times over the past two years. The actors are talented and experienced, the theater itself comfortable and intimate, and it's an opportunity for me to meet other audience members between the acts to talk about what we're seeing and exchange thoughts. I usually go to a matinee, so I take the whole day to have a relaxing drive to the theatre, have lunch in Mill Valley, and, after the play, drive back to the South Bay while enjoying the conversation with my friends who have come with me. I like the fact that the company does new plays so well; and that whether it's 'Thomas and Sally' or a classic like 'Waiting for Godot', I will be in for a few hours of very good theatre.

Best local theater
Apr 2017 • Friends
The Mill Valley Theater Company has grown into the top notch venue it is today. Do not expect to see amateurs reciting lines. Do go expecting to see professional actors in command of their craft. You'll be taken on a ride you won't forget. Don't miss a trip to this small but just right theater.

Worse Play ever
May 2017 • Couples
We had gone to the theater here a long while back and decided to try it again. We went to see Guards at Taj. Why in the world would a theater group put this on is a big question to me. The play had two characters and was very slow and stage change was slow too. On top of this the material of play contained hands cut off in baskets, blood on a man, and then one guard cutting hands off another. It was grotesque to say the least. My husband got up and left and I should have gone with him. People applauded for what reason is beyond me. If going to this theater I would really make sure what their choices of plays are.

Great local theater
Mar 2017 • Couples
The acting and directing is always superb. This is not just neighborhood theater. The actors have a wealth of experience from across the country and across genres. The artistic director does not play it safe. He is getting new plays and most plays featuring diversity. It is generally possible to get tickets close to the performance. Well worthwhile.

Great Produtions and Crew/ Ushers Not Friendly
Nov 2016 • Family
We saw an amazing production of the Jungle Book at this quaint and beautiful theatre. The ticketing staff and actors were delightful. I was disappointed with the Ushers that were very unfriendly and not helpful at all. They did not acknowledge guests and seemed not very happy to be there. But that won't stop us from returning to see the great productions. Hope to see different Ushers than the ones we encountered on November 5th afternoon show. Actors were warm and welcoming as were the ticket booth crew. The Ushers made it seem like we should know where to sit and it was a hassle to show us to our seats. Maybe it was a bad day for them. It was a beautiful day outside and a beautiful day for a fun family event!

This local theatre is a little gem in the Mill Valley Community
Mar 2016 • Couples
We subscribe by buying flex tickets which allow us to pick dates that we know we can attend. Last season the play Satchmo was an amazing one man show. We were stunned by the performer all the way through the performance. We have many instances of being riveted by the shows at this theatre.

Great Performances!
Mar 2016 • Couples
I feel so blessed to have this wonderful theatre in my community! The productions are of really high quality, from the actors, set, costumes and interpretation of the classic pieces. There is also a very wide range of offerings each season. The theatre is intimate enough to really engage with the performance. They also offer many activities to get the community and children involved. I'm so happy that this place exists and is doing a commendable job.
