Very nice walk

Let you get close but you need to be able to do steps; as long as you can do them it worth the walk on the trail.

Great chance to the monument from different vantage points along the base. There is plenty of shade so even if taking this walk in August (like we did), it's bearable. Just wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a bottle of water, and earlier in the day or around sunset are best. Saw all ages walking this trail, so a good... More

Walking up close to the mountain is very accessible. They have done a great job. You can choose to get a guided tour (audio headphones) or do it on your own.

this is such a wonderful national park! I miss the old dinning room but realize that the amount of visitors no longer allowed for an intimate visit. The new view of the MT is grand!!

This is a must if you visit Mount Rushmore. You have different views of the monument along the trail. Tip: The trail seemed easier if you started on the left side (closest to Washington).

The Mt Rushmore Monument is one of my favorite monuments. It is so well done. Clean, well maintained, an incredible display of pride for our past presidents. The monument can be viewed from several locations outside the Mt Rushmore Monument itself, but it is still worth the stop. There is a VERY nice gift shop as well filled with everything... More

Make sure you bring really good walking shoes.... this was a long walk but work it. If it is during the summer bring a bottle of cold water with you.

Half of this trail is very easy and walkable for anyone. You get great views up close and can get great pictures. The other half back around is step and can be strenuous. So if you don't want strenuous, walk back the easy way and it would be no problem. Fantastic views up close.

There are a lot of steps along the way but if you're able to do those it's a must do. The spectacular views as you get closer are just breathtaking

The trail is handicapped accessible and you walk through a nice natural setting. You up from the base of the carvings of Washington and Lincoln. The remainder of the trail requires steps which we can no longer climb. If you are at Mount Rushmore you must take this trail.
