Townhead Golf Course. This place has always struggled with drainage but we played today and it's a disgrace to be honest. We intended to play 18 but due to the conditions underfoot only attempted 10 or 11. NLC either need to invest some time and money into improving the course or close it.

I've played this place on and off for around 40 years and can honestly say that it's as bad as i've ever known it.

Serious safety incident
May 2023
I never leave reviews but feel compelled to warn others of my experience. I visited the park on 17th of May and had a fantastic time with my two grandchildren until we went to the cafe where there was a man I would say in his forties in the queue with his hand down the front of his trousers and underwear clearly touching himself. I was disgusted and shocked! He was very blatant in his actions in the middle of a cafe full of children, clearly happy to be seen. I went to the reception desk to report this behaviour only to be told that he is one of the stewards in the building and regularly has his hand down his trousers. I dont know what type of man chooses to work in a country park with two play areas in it and walks around with his hand down his underwear but I will never return to this park with my grandchildren and will warn everyone I know to keep their children and grandchildren well away. NLC should be ashamed having someone like that work in a country park full of children.

The country park itself is really lovely, and the play parks are great. We stopped at the cafe for coffee and lunch, went up and ordered and the lady behind the till was the rudest, most unpleasant person I have ever met. Would not be helpful, and when order had something missing, he loudly sighed, rolled her eyes and went and got the sandwich in the most passive aggressive way I have ever seen in anyone, much less service people. We will never be going to the cafe again. Please fire those women.

Proprietors, please take notice. The park is a pleasant amenity, but is let down in several observable ways. Signage is inadequate, faded and misleading. Worst of all, the cafe is a let down. On our visit today we found it to be unventilated and heavy with the stink of frying oil and vinegar. Worst of all is the lack of cleanliness of the cafe floor. Vacant tables were all unswept. Very poor reflection on what Scotland could offer to visitors or its own people. Cafe manager- don’t understaff, or make sure the staff do their job properly. Council - refresh and replace missing signage, particularly for visitors trying to make their way from the Blair Road entrance to the Visitor Centre. Signage runs out and walkers can take a wrong turn.

Cafe was dirty and messy staff couldn't care less,no one cleaning, staff on phone and even in the middle of all the mess chose to sit and have their lunch and wasn't even busy. Totally unacceptable way to run a business, wouldn't return. I have family members who live local and would now not go or recommend. Very disappointed .

We went for a walk around the loch which had a decent path. A bit muddy at bits but there had been a lot of rain. We fed the ducks and swans and then played in the big wooden play fort. The kids loved it there. All the usual play park things but extra bits to climb and bridges to go over. We finished our walk with a hit chocolate in the cafe which was nice and reasonably priced. The toilets were clean and there is plenty of parking. Would be great for bikes and scooters as well.

Great place for a saunter with various distance walks for all ages. Car park was jammed full when we arrived but managed to gay the only space left. Walks were very busy and both the children's play areas were busy. Very good cafe and information areas. Plenty of toilets. All in all an excellent place for everyone

We have visited this park a few times with our 2 grandaughters they both like it.there are 2 parks as well. One for the younger kids. We like the one with the fortress as we can go on it as well. Slides were fast. You can also walk round the water side. Toilets and cafe were closed when we went.
There were 2 ice-cream vans there.
The park was really busy.
We would definitely return

Came here with my 7 year old, twin 2 year olds, my friend, her 3 year old and her 1 year old. My friend went up and bought teas for us and snacks for the kids. My friend had brought a couple of biscuits which were specifically for dietary requirements of one of the children and the kids had been eating crisps as we walked round the park. We were approached by a member of staff and told that we were not allowed to bring food in to the cafe. We pointed out that we had actually purchased food and drink from the cafe and were told ‘it doesn’t matter’. It’s not as if we brought a whole picnic with us, just some left over crisps and gluten-free biscuits. We never brought anything the cafe sold. It’s not as if there was a huge variety available in the cafe, especially not for toddlers. In my opinion this was completely unreasonable for a country park cafe. She stood over us with hands on hips, talking loudly and drawing attention from other patrons. This was a really unpleasant experience for me and my friend and as a result we will not return to the cafe, we will bring our own food and eat it on a bench outside, so that cafe has lost our custom completely now. Very short sighted and silly!!!
