A special place to visit
Nov 2021
We really loved this wild garden, from the avenue of Lime trees to the lovely ponds and beyond. So peaceful and natural although clearly the village community put a lot of work into making it accessible and sustainable. It's interesting to read it's history to enhance the experience. We were in the village for 2 nights and went there twice!
If you want to extend your walk go through the gate at the far end and turn right, walk up the grassy track to Diggers Wood on your left for a walk around the wood. We saw a black pheasant and about a dozen grouse in the field, both quite rare in our part of the country.

Heaven and haven on earth
Jun 2021 • Couples
We had booked at The Lamb Pub for lunch . Drove down from Solihull. Decided to first have a little walk. Had known there was a garden/ forest nearby.
Well bless me. It was an ancient forest, unspoilt, quiet , few visitors. We just wanted to sot quietly and listen to the birds. There was one magnificent tall tree that was love at first sight .
Oh thank you whoever for creating such a haven that is free to visit.
Walked all around immersing ourselves in this natural world
Thank you

Beautiful, ancient and peaceful!

I discovered Wychwood Wild Garden with a friend while visiting Shipton-under-Wychwood.
What a great find! Such peace and beauty!
The woodland looks very ancient and the ponds are stunning! It was very clean despite no bins anywhere. Clearly it is well looked after.
There are a few benches scattered around the ponds and lots of wildlife everywhere.
Despite visiting on a Sunday, it was quiet, with only a few visitors.
We really enjoyed our visit and plan to be back.

Gorgeously Peaceful & Tranquil
Sep 2020 • Couples
This is a gorgeous little find! My husband and I are staying in a cottage nearby for a quintessential Cotswolds holiday. We stumbled across this place mooching around the local village. It is a real haven for nature, plants and trees. It's so quiet and really densely populated with lush greenery and a beautiful pond. Lots of sweet ducks, moor hens, coots and so much more! It's clear wildlife love it in here. There are also a few benches located around the park so I would highly recommend coming here if you want somewhere peaceful to go and admire the natural world.

stunningly beautiful walk

Worth a walk into the gardens just to see the beautiful avenue of Lime trees, forming an almost cathedral like vault as you enter. The Cedar of Lebanon is majestic and over 300 years old. The entry is free but we gave a donation in the box as the gardens are maintained by the community for everybody to enjoy. Long may this happen!

Family walk

This is a private garden maintained by the residents of Shipton. It was walking distance from where we were staying for the weekend. A delightful area of 12 acres with ponds, trails and wildlife. Perfect to go on family walks. So very peaceful when you are in there.

Great walk
Aug 2020 • Family
We enjoyed a beautiful walk here, the ponds and water are so clear and well looked after. The ducks a little over friendly as I imagine they are being fed by many visitors. That said it was lovely to hear them as you walked past and followed the water down through the woods.

We went early arriving just before ten, as we left it was really starting to get busy. We saw many people with dogs, all were on a lead as advised by the signs.

It’s beautifully kept and you can whiteness the upkeep all around the area.

It’s quite far for us, an hours drive but it truly is beautiful.

We were thrilled to be able to leave a donation on leaving. It clearly brings a lot of joy to many people.

Beautiful Gardens for local people
Aug 2020
The Wychwood Wild Gardens are managed by volunteers for the villagers of The Wychwoods. It is NOT a public space, there are no facilities, not even litter bins. It is a wildlife haven and not intended for family picnics and games. Please respect this small woodland which was bought for and is maintained by local people.
