Robbery
Jun 2021
This place is run by THEIVES. I booked a room thru my employer, when I arrived they tried to book me into a room at their motel(not even the same address). My reservation was clearly for the casino, not the motel. They tried to get me to book a room there for double the rate I was quoted and expected me to cancel the reservation I already booked. When I asked to speak to a manager, they refused and said I would need to take it up with my booking agent. I called my agent and they tried to get ahold of the hotel for over two hours, with no answer. We finally left after waiting for 2 hours for a reply. They then refused to refund my money, stating I was rude. They did all of this deliberately to scam me out of more money. They literally booked me into a motel that wasn't even at the same address. The robbed me and didn't think twice about it. They are stealing from travelers, relying on the fact, there is not much else out there. They are beyond bad customer service, they are THIEVES and LIARS.

Cliff Castle Casino improvements coming soon- June 2021...
May 2021
Rumor has it improvements are coming to Cliff Castle Casino...
As the Cliff Castle Casino website says the poker room will remain closed- but rumor has it another round of casino renovations are planned to start in June 2021. While the former poker room has been used for smokers during the pandemic, we can't help but wonder if it may also undergo a bit of transformation. Past renovations have always placed good ventilation in the casino at the bottom of the list, so don't be too fast to congratulate the management. For at least 12 years the Casino has had poor ventilation. Social media reviews showed the smoke, at times was a huge drawback on the main casino floor. Now the smoking lounge in the former poker room could actually double as a smoke chamber where local fire fighters could practice blind extractions of trapped people. But someone does care enough to have added an oscillating fan in there. And when the smoke cloud gets too dense security is called in to vent the cloud through a guarded exterior door. Even if you aren't a smoker you'll soon see the ventilation problems in that former poker room point to a poor overall ventilation system in the casino. Just think, if slot machines were installed in that room, it wouldn't be long before people playing and smoking in there begin to fall off their chairs. And in case that's not enough action for you, the casino's security staff will remain outside the glass doors, with pen and paper in hand- as they will note their observations of the casualties. All kidding aside, it remains to be seen if top managers at Cliff Castle Casino and Hotel will ever think to prioritize the casino's unhealthy ventilation system as part of their renovations. In the meantime, I suppose there is some useful attraction in allowing the public to see what could double as a smoke chamber, right inside the casino. The casino should toss out those uncomfortable chairs at the Strata bar. Guess the public either has to accept the lack of comfort and low payouts or hit the road. Spend 1-2 hours tops!

Do NOT stay at the LODGE
Jun 2021 • Family
Do NOT stay at the Lodge. Definitely the ugly step child of the casino. Not very clean. Has an old unkept feel to it. Saw trash littered everywhere that no one has bothered to clean. We were there for 4 nights and noticed the trash by vending machines there duration of our stay. Like how do the housekeepers not see the trash and not clean it??!!! Just proved the carelessness of the upkeep of the Lodge unfortunately. With a little effort and better cleanliness standards this area would be a great place to stay in. Will never stay here again. I would definitely pay extra to stay in the casino next time or elsewhere. What made it worth it for this stay was my grandson loved the family section of the casino.

Unfortunate, Uncomfortable and Disappointing
May 2021 • Couples
I’m routinely warned by all the Camp Verde locals and my experiences have been no different. I think it’s a right of passage in the town to be 86’d at the casino. They aren’t interested in catering to anyone but 55+ gambling addicts. If you want to go spend a couple hundred at the tables, buy some drinks and generously tip the staff, then go to Las Vegas. Cliff Castle security has zero patience for groups or celebration of any kind no mater how positive, polite and generous($) you are. Plan to be contacted every few minutes and shadowed by a group of 4-5 guards until it becomes so uncomfortable that you leave your money on the table and retreat to the privacy of your room. Even the local business are quick advise tourists to avoid the Casino.

A Nice Casino on the Way to Sedona...
Apr 2021
Recently I visited Arizona and drove from Phoenix to Sedona. On the way up to Sedona I stopped into the Cliff Castle Casino for lunch and ate at Johnny Rocket's.

The Casino was very clean, and followed the CDC guidelines by requiring customers to wear masks and everyone was tested for their temperature upon entering. It is always reassuring to see businesses doing what is right to keep their customers and employees safe during this pandemic.

There were plenty of slot machines and table games for gamblers...This is one casino worth stopping at while traveling between Sedona and Phoenix....

packed to the gills-they count heads and allow the number of slots ( and the same # of peeps) in to the casino.
Apr 2021
The place is packed on the weekend, if you leave to have a smoke, plan to wait another 1/2 hour to get back in. I didn't hear a lot of winners. I was very disappointed-I've heard good things about this casino. There used to be smoking-be aware, no more smoking in the casino-you must leave to smoke out front. Very disappointing experience, hotel is very pricey also. We stayed at THE LODGE-VERY NICE!

Horrifying.

So, this is a casino where you can gamble sober in a tiny plexiglass box.

The governor ended the COVID mandates but they don't care. You can't take two consecutive sips of a beer without remasking. You can't talk to other people. You can't smoke or vape. You can just lose your money in sorrow and isolation.

Oh, and the drinks aren't comped like most casinos; they're strip club prices. $7 Coronas.

This is a wonderful place to visit if you hate yourself.
