I liked the castle a lot, build by the Tampliers and never taken by attackers. Game of Thrones Mereen was shot there so that adds to the exotic feel.

We attempted to go a first time at around 4 in the afternoon, but the line for tickets was too long for us after walking 5 kms from Benicarlo, then up the hilltop to the castle. It is a lovely castle and a must if you are in the area, but the area is touristy. Felt like Mont Saint Michel... More

Is not the first time in the town and every time you have the feeling to go up to the castle. It is an historical place and used several times in the cinema for its unique place and set up.

Do not miss this spot ifyou are travelling up or down the coast...worth a detour. Park in the town area and walk up through the old town (past bars and restaurants and the odd tatt store). Head for the high point up stairwells and pathways. You will be amazed with the views. A must!

After many years at the costa brava this was our first trip torwards to the south. Peñiscola is definetly worth a visit or a stay. A beautiful city with more than one beach and a beautiful old town around the castle. Unfortunately we had not enough time to explore everything. Take your time and stay at least overnight...

Really enjoyed the visit. Old streets around the castle is a great place for Spanish tapas. Lovely to stroll around in the evening. You do need flatish shoes because a lot of the streets are cobbles!

Delightful old castle set behind the walls in the old city. Magnificent views from the top. Don't miss it if you are in Peniscola.

A very nice city to stay or visit. Near by the beach (very nice one indeed). Entering the old town would end at climbing to the top of a hill. Beside narrow roads and shops for tourist the place is clean and exciting to walk through. The castle is a big place with points of view to the sea view.

If you make it all the way through the beautiful scenes of narrow streets small plazas on the edge of the cliff, you reach the top of the peninsula of Peñiscola. Although the trip to the castle has brought many views of the Mediterranean Sea they are only glimpses compared to what waits you from the roof of the castle.... More
