Interesting small museum
Jan 2020
We were greeted by one of the staff who talked us through what we were going to see in a very helpful and enthusiastic way. It was very interesting learning about the history of Lorca and the region from 7000 years ago. Displays were well laid out and there was enough I English to be able to understand what we were seeing although a bit of google translate helped too! Well worth an hour of your time

VERY SMALL MUSEUM
Dec 2019
Pretty architecturally from the outside, but very little inside. No charge for entry and nice people in charge of it. Not worth a special trip, but if you're in the area stop by.

One of the best small museums we have visited
Nov 2019
This well laid out museum covers the history of the Lorca area right back to 3500 BC with excellent displays and the main info boards in English as well as Spanish. Upon arrival the guide at the desk gave us an excellent overview of the different areas within the museum and answered a number of our questions, we then followed his advice and the helpful signage through the different rooms for a really enjoyable and informative couple of hours. Highlights were the ancient tomb finds and the wonderful coin and medal collection. Not to be missed!

Excellent visualisations of medieval Lorca
Sep 2019
A small museum yet with very accessible visualisations of the growth of the city, essential for getting your bearings and if you are staying in the Parador, to learn more about its history and significance.

All encompassing collection
Jul 2019
This tiny museum has a wide-ranging collection and is very well curated. It covers Iberian, Roman, Jewish and Islamic cultures and has artifacts from BC, through the Middle Ages etc. For those interested in coins, there is a room dedicated to numismatics.

small, magnificent and amazingly friendly
Sep 2019
There is just a lot to like about this Museo - the lay out, the artefacts, the descriptions and the very friendly custodian who is a delight.

Walking into the entrance admire the 3 milestones that were discovered following the earthquake and were part of the Via Augusta that went from Rome to Cadiz. The museum is well laid out with rooms covering Pre-History ( Agraric people), Iberians, Romans, Muslims, Jewish and of course the spanish conquest. There are some amazing finds including a tunic dating from 2000 years ago, some excellent military artefacts.

This is a provincial museum but its insight into Lorca, to Spain and the way its displayed is simply excellent. Well done an excellent visit

Very good find
Apr 2019 • Couples
We came across the museum more by accident than good management and we were pleased we did.
It was very easy and reasonable to gain entry.
Ithas made very good adjustments for anyone with mobility issues.
It is a wealth of education to the Order of the Blue Brotherhood.
Their garments are works of art to be appreciated
The descriptions are multi lingual.
The whole visit is an experience which is to be admired.there is also a great gift shop with good priced items to suit all needs and tastes such as jewelery to religious items clothes and fridge magnets.
This is time well spent and you will marvel at the tapestries and embrodery
These traditions are still taking place today and you can see the workshops in action.

Not to be missed

We were met by Mr Jimenez when we entered the museum who set the scene for our visit. He explained in chronological order what exhibits we would be seeing and mentioned the key features which was very useful and helped with our understanding. With civilisations going back over 2000 BC to the latest credit cards in the coin collection the exhibition is excellent and helped also by very good audio visual presentations. The museum itself was the home of a Genoan trader who married a local Lorca woman and its architecture shoul not be missed. Thank you Mr Jimenez for an interesting visit.
