About
Thank you so much for your interest in the Flying Dog Tasting Room. Like many other companies, we are limiting physical access to the building to our essential employees during the pandemic. All of our programs, including the tasting room, and events are on indefinite hold at this time. Our brewery continues to produce world class beer that you can purchase at your favorite retailer.

This is a nice place o taste some different beers. When we were there in February, though there is outside seating with heaters, no one made use of it. Also, there were no tours that afternoon, so we were disappointed in that respect. Food was available at a food truck near the parking lot. The place is located in a warehouse district. The folks who staff the place are very friendly and the know THEIR beers. We tasted a flight of beers, all on the darker side and really liked 3 of the four. There is sometimes entertainment on site with plenty of parking and lots of room inside. Nice place to socialize as well.

We loved the Flying Dog brewery tour. We came here during our honeymoon trip to Frederick. The tasting room was very nicely done and the outdoor space was a great place to sit and relax after the tour. They give you a good but not overwhelming amount of information about the history of the company and the beer making process. My husband really like the samples they gave out along the way. We loved getting to taste some beers that were only available onsite, including the Strawberry Sour which was probably our favorite sour we've ever tasted. We highly recommend the Flying Dog tour!

Great place but if you want to do the tour get there really early. $5 for the tour but totally worth it. The staff is very nice and helpful. Very cool place and cannot wait to go back. And of course the beer is good too

Had a layover at Baltimore / Washington airport. Thought I would have a good burger and a drink.
Ordered the Mushroom with A View Burger & A Blooded Mary. The Blooded Mary was no doubt the most Worst Ever!!!!! The Burger was just ok. Like over cooked and dry.

No statements on website saying under 21 year olds allowed. Came with family and one was not allowed in. Ruined the night. Horrible experience, making me not want to drink your beer ever.

On Friday, November 28, we were told by brewery personnel that they start taking names at 4 PM for all tours that day. I asked if there's a possibility that they would take names prior to 4 PM and the individual told me no, all names are taken for the tour at 4 PM.We came back at 4:03 and found out that the 4:30, 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 PM Tours were full and and only the 6:30 PM tour was available. How is it that all these toys get filled up in three minutes? We were clearly misled by people at flying dog. We did not wait around for 2 1/2 hours and will not return.

My husband and I are avid craft beer fans from Ohio. We were excited to find out that we happened to be staying close to The Flying Dog as we are able to sample a lot of their beers in Ohio. We were very disappointed that we were not able to bring our 20 year old daughter in with us. We have visited other breweries and wineries across the states and have never encountered this before. One of our favorite breweries has a venue very similar to this one in Florida (Fort Meyers Brewery) they have a food truck night with several different kinds of food and music and many families attend. The children dance and play the parents visit with friends and family. While we were at The Flying Dog we saw several other families show up and leave. Just thinking you are missing the boat guys. I still love your beer though 🍺.

In this day and age breweries that are family friendly and dog friendly are all the rage. However, this is not the case with Flying Dog. My wife and I stopped in with our 6 month old for a growler fill. My wife was restricted to the small general store area while I went over for our fill selection.

Maybe this is a Frederick County regulation or zoning issue, however this is something that should be high on Flying Dog's list to address. There are far too many other breweries that allow, heck even want, kids to attend (board games, kid play areas, etc).

As a family with a young child and a dog we end up trying to do most things together....We were just looking for a growler fill to take home not trying to hang out and drink with our six month old...some would say don't bring your kid to a brewery. And we won't...at least not at Flying Dog. There are dozens of other family friendly breweries within an hour drive with just as good or better beer options.

Went here for lunch and a tasting, but were turned away at the door because of the kids with us. Overall it looked like a nice place, but I didn't see anywhere on TripAdvisor where the 21+ rule was mentioned, so I figured I would pass that tip along.

We went to Flying Dog on a Friday evening to hopefully beat some of the weekend rush. Tours cost $5, are first come first served, and run every 30 minutes. We arrived just after 4pm for the 4:30pm tour and were one of the first on the list. Too bad they can't serve their beer while you wait!! The full tour itself takes a little less than an hour, and then you will need time at the end to enjoy your 5 samples included with the tour! The tour was fun, interactive, and informative. I have done several brewery tours already, so I basically knew the premise of brewing but it was still entertaining and our tour guide Brendan was really fun and upbeat. Just FYI the tour and brewery use adult language - their number one selling beer is "Raging (Female Dog)" and they have beers called Pearl Necklace, Horn Dog, etc. If that sort of thing bothers you, you probably shouldn't visit this brewery. After the tour we hung out in the tasting room for probably about an hour doing our five good size sample pours. There wasn't a single beer between my husband and I that we tried that wasn't good. We even filled a growler - which is a great deal. I would highly recommend this tour to fun, beer-loving people!
