We spent three nights in Zafra, in part using it as a base to explore nearby attractions. The town is a real delight, popular with Spanish visitors but unspoilt by mass tourism. It is a relaxing place, easy to wander round on foot, with plenty of cafes and tapas bars to watch the world go by. We found the tourist... More

Several really charming hotels here, good food, if you are careful, and a quiet, pretty place to visit end of summer if on an Andalucian tour

This is the second time we've been here and it's a very nice village to visit. Slow paced, it's very quaint and it's great to windup on the Plaza grande

Zafra is a charming little Spanish town located just off the A66. Lots of tight streets and little plazas surrounded by a variety of shops and bars.

We travel through Spain each year and love having a couple of stopovers in different towns. Zafra was not a disappointment and it was a charming place to explore. Easy to walk round, although we actually have folding bikes so cycled. Everything of interest is centred around the historic old town; two lovely squares, Plaza Grande and Plaza Chico, adjoining... We went here on the way from Merida (great little town!) to Sevilla (great big city!) and stopped here on the basis of TA's comments about it being a "Little Sevilla". What a crock! This place is a tired little burg with little to recommend it other than the Paradore built in a 14th century castle. That's pretty cool. The... More

Zafra is a lovely little town. I last visited a few years ago as I lived in a nearby town and Zafra was a short bus journey away. It is quite a small place, but it is nice, especially the town squares (plazas). There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the town, and I would also recommend visiting the... More

Well worth a visit, Zafra is a great town to wander round. There's a nice relaxing calm about the place. There's also a good choice of tapas bars, some of which serve local produce and wine. The rail journey over mountain passes from Sevilla (or, even better, from Huelva) is very scenic.

Zafra isn't as well publicised as some of its larger neighbours, but it is a place that's well worth visiting. The narrow streets (traffic free) are filled with cafes and tapas bars, there are several churches to visit, as well as the old gates. The parador is worth a visit in its own right, notwithstanding the history; the calm and shady...
