Nice small town
Feb 2020
On our way back from Salamanca to Seville, we decided to stop at Plasencia. It’s a small town that one can be able to visit in just a few hours. Nice walls, historic aqueduct, and some old cute streets.

Small city

Easy walking around and if you want shoes 👠 seem to have a large quantity of stores. City walls are great to see.

bit of a disappointment but still had a lot to see
Mar 2019 • Couples
we had to pick plasencia or caceres to overnight on the way to Santiago. A friend from Spain suggested Plasencia. It was not a knockout, not a toledo, but the parador alone made the trip worthwhile. The cathedral is very much worth seeing and there was a chapel next to the parador that had a collection of floats used in Carnaval that was really bizarre and really worth seeing. The meal in the parador was also a highlight. So overall the city was not itself a four star attraction but if you are in that region it is absolutely worth the visit for the Parador alone and tagging on some good food, the cathedral and the old town is worth a visit.

Lovely small city
Mar 2019
Had not heard of Plasencia before we decided to stay here (weather was good, and it was on our route) Very pleasantly surprised and impressed by the well preserved monuments in the town, including the cathedral, parador, convents, and city walls. The city has a calm vibe with just enough action to be interesting. Several shops sell good quality ham and other products from extremadura at reasonable prices.

There are also very nice walks on the island and great cycling paths along the river away from any traffic. Nice campsite 3 km from the centre wich is right on the cycle/walking paths. Will definitely stop here again.

A smallerSpanish city in Extremadura
Aug 2018 • Couples
This small city is a quiet one. It’s one to visit if you’ve seen most of the larger cities in Spain. It has a small plaza Mayor, nothing special and a lovely Cathedral. The Parador de Plasencia is wonderful. We happened to be there during the 1st Tuesday of August, which is a major festival. The town was abuzz with dozens of wonderful stalls of local items for sale. The church that is part of the Parador was open and showing its amazing collection of effigies that are used during Santa Samana. Worth the visit to see this.

Nice Town

Smaller enough to get around on foot and big enough to be interesting. Stay central for a night or two.

Beautiful
Apr 2018 • Couples
A lovely, small city...easy to get around and you can visit it in a day. Be sure to take one of the walking tours from the Tourist Information Center. This is much better than just walking around, because the guides share the historical information, as well as the accompanying anecdotes! Especially interesting: the old and new cathedrals.

Worth a visit
Sep 2017 • Couples
The old town of Plasencia is quaint, but there are not very many buildings of interest to visit. The Cathedral is an exception. It is worth a visit, so do go there.
