We stayed at the Parador and popped our head in. The little caretaker was insistent we follow another couple around the church and I am so grateful for his insistence. The baptismal font circa 800 was brought from Rome! It sits on a base that was hidden by steps until last century when the steps were removed. There are paintings from 1300’s on. Many extraordinary works that we wouldn’t have understood without his descriptions. There’s also an optical illusion under the cupola. I won’t spoil the rest. In sum, it really is underrated. Have a few coins ready for a “donation”. Pictures are allowed here, but not in the cathedral. …

On the face of it it's rather cuboid with imposing angles. Not large but imposing on the square with a very loud bell! Dark and cool inside.

This church sits next to the Parador, in which we were staying. It is not always open, but the building is ancient and rather well-preserved, so do try to visit it!
