Located not too far from the city of Girona, Catalan and dating back to the Middle Ages the imposing 12th century Romanesque angled access bridge spans over the River Fluvia. Winding cobble stoned streets house many retail stores selling local wines, cheeses and artistic metal...More

Make sure you visit the old town of Besalu. We nearly missed it as we were in the newer area. The area around Besalu is beautiful.

Besalu is probably one of the earliest medieval towns in Spain and one of the best preserved. Not over spoilt and a delight tp walk about at any time of year.

Upon entering the narrow cobble stone lanes, I was impressed with the wonderful archetecture. The view of the river below was so very peaceful.

This is a lovely picturesque area of Spain worth a visit. Nice to look around some nice hand crafted items to buy. Go before or after siesta time of day as not much open between 3-5 a few shops and restaurants.
