Besalu is spectacular medieval town, close to both Girona and Barcelona. Easy to spend 2-3 hours exploring, this bridge and castle was incredible. If you're in the area, strongly recommend stopping by.

The town provides a wonderful walk along the cliff edge and through the small streets of the little medieval village. A stunning place in a beautiful location by a little river.

Make sure you visit the old town of Besalu. We nearly missed it as we were in the newer area. The area around Besalu is beautiful.

Besalu is probably one of the earliest medieval towns in Spain and one of the best preserved. Not over spoilt and a delight tp walk about at any time of year.

Besalú is one of Catalonia’s best preserved medieval villages. Around the 9th century, Besalú was the capital of the County of Besalú which, at various times, extended as far north as Corbières in present-day France. Besalú has narrow, cobblestone streets and old stone buildings. Its...More
