Castell de Begur are ruins of the old castle located in Begur, a tiny town in Costa Brava, in Girona Region, in the North of Catalonia. Ruins are not very well-preserved, in fact you only see a part of a tower and the wall, bit the best part of the place is that it is located on the top of a little mountain, close to the old town, so you can enjoy a lot with very beautiful views of surroundings, especially the coast. I came here to see beaches, the sea and the Coastal Path that I followed the last day. Very nice.

Easy to reach lookout with amazing 360 degree views over the area. Don't expect much of a castle, its more like ruins but well worth the short walk up the hill. Footpath is paved and illuminated at night so its quite safe to walk. To reach the parking for the castle you need to drive past the sign "for authorized vehicles only", otherwise you might burn more calories than you've planned. Visit is free of charge. If you're bringing kids with you, be aware that at the top there many unsecured gaps and edges, so don't let them roam freely unattended.

Although the castle itself is more or less gone, the tough walk up is well worth it. You have a plaque explaining what you can see, such as mountains and towns. You have great views of Begur, the sea, the coastline and beaches, and the mountains all around.

Walked through Begur in earlY morning. Nice walk, good exercise, a few others walking too. When you reach the top great vista's. Castle isn't much to see, just for the views. Explanation in English at the top near the castle ruins. No charge.

When you are around Begur treat yourself to a walk up. The views across to the mountains, down to the sea and across the town itself are magnificent. There are benches along the way if you want/need to rest.

A beautiful view and you've got a parking which is maybe 15 minutes away from the castle. If you are lucky you can drive up and get a parking. Stunnig view of the town and the costa brava long with a view of the islands (Illes Medes).

We ordered a goat cheese salad with mixed greens....it was the best I ever had. Even the pesto spaghetti was yum. My daughter loved her tomato penne pasta. Its a family run restaurant which makes it even more special. They attend to all details very well.

If you are in Begur this is a highlight. It is a steep hike on paved roads and trails perhaps 20 minutes above either of the parking lots. You could drive and try for a parking space near the start of the final trail but you'd miss the workout and the walk through the narrow lanes of the town. The views are impressive.

This is a great little 10-15 min walk up a hill to get a great view. The ruins are not much but fun to see. Go a clear day.
