Absolutely terrible experience

Extremely disappointing. Group of teenagers, occasional riders, who were so exited to ride. Got there, no introduction from the workers, no asking for names, no introduction to the horses and no specific instructions. When she asked what we wanted to do, we specified walk, trot and canter. The host (Elena) hardly spoke to us and brought a friend along with her who spent the whole ride chatting in Spanish together and on there phones. We did not even canter in the end and we’re extremely disappointed. When we asked her why, she said that we were not experienced enough even though we had specified that we could and have all cantered before. We asked Elena to take a few pictures but she only took one at the start without even everyone in it and still hasn’t sent them to us. One of us was a little scared to canter as she was the only beginner and she said « people who are scared are the worst riders ». Not worth 25€ for an hour!!! Very disappointed

Very poor customer service and unsafe!

We do not recommend this experience, particularly for beginner riders.
We booked a 2h ride specifying that neither myself nor my partner had ever ridden a horse before and were therefore complete beginners - the person on the phone reassured us that there was no problem.
When we arrived, the guide didn’t introduce herself and didn’t give us any induction as to how to ride and how to behave with the horses. Shortly after starting the ride my horse decided to lie down to rub her back against the sand. This meant that I fell off the horse and had to be careful not to get my leg trapped underneath. The guide barely turned, rolled her eyes at me just instructed me to ‘get back on’, without dismounting to help me back up. She didn’t ask whether I was ok or gave any reassurance as to how to prevent that from happening again.
She later said that this horse had this ‘vice’ as it was an old horse, that was lazy and didn’t want to go out for rides much, adding that it had done the same thing a few times, including the previous day. We felt that this was probably not the best choice of horse for a complete beginner.
My partner's horse started galloping a couple of times and similarly the guide looked just annoyed and didn't provide any assistance.
During the ride, the guide didn’t talk to us at all as she decided to bring a friend and spent all of the time chatting with him. She only turned to check how we were doing a few times.
At the end of the ride she didn’t even say good bye to us. Absolutely terrible costumer service.

Great trek for the family

Myself and partner and our four year old daughter went for a one hour trek. My partner and daughter had never been on a horse before and I had been on a horse once many many many years ago. I was very nervous. The prices are reasonable and the staff were lovely. The horses looked well cared for and looked after. Lovely trek in the forest for an hour which we all really enjoyed and will do again next year. We are also looking at horse riding lessons for our daughter back home in Glasgow off the back of this visit as she enjoyed it so much. We bought her a Hipica Begur t-shirt at the end which also made her day! Would recommend even for people who have had no experience of horse riding.

Excellent experience

My novice children and husband competed the one hour ride. Fantastic experience all round. staff super friendly although only spoke pigeon English but that just added to the enjoyable experience. We loved it. I relaxed with a coffee in the shade whilst the others enjoyed their ride. Don't let a poor review put you off!

My 9 year old daughter and I took a 1hr horse trek. My daughter was a little nervous initially so her horse was led by a rope held by the member of staff on the lead horse.
The route through the sandy forest was really pleasant and interesting with a few fairly steep hills.

The horses were very well-behaved.

My 6 year old son went on a pony walk led by one of the staff. He enjoyed it immmensely.

Recommended.

We had the absolute worst experience with this company. My husband and I booked a 3 hour trail ride with Hipica Begur. While making the booking, my husband told them (repeatedly) that he has ridden less than 10 times in his life and that I rode as a child but haven’t much in the past 20 years (we are in our 40’s). We arrived and no one introduced themselves or asked us our names or asked any other questions of us. They took our money, helped us on the horses, and we started off down the trail. My husband was trailing behind and the wrangler, or guide, looked back only to roll his eyes at my husband (who was clearly having a tough time). Then he (the guide) started to gallop off with the two other riders in our group. My horse wanted to follow but I didn’t want to leave my husband and I was worried about him being on a galloping horse. I started saying “whoa,” got my horse to stop and I turned back towards my husband - he was fine but his horse was completely stopped. The guide got angry with me and started yelling at both my husband and myself, saying we were awful riders. He was incredibly insulting. He proceeded to take the group back to the stables - dropped us off (still yelling at us) and took off again with the 2 other riders. The company owner was there upon our arrival and refunded our money but seemed very angry with us too and never gave an apology. We never represented ourselves as great riders and said we were “beginners”! They were so incredibly rude to us. They really made us feel horribly and absolutely ruined our day. Not only did they put us in the wrong riding group (their responsibility to put us with other beginners) but they made us feel as if we were to blame for something awful. We have had a great experience with another riding company an hour from Barcelona and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. We were really shocked to have such a horrible experience with Hipica Begur. We had a big tip prepared and were so excited to have found a place where we could hopefully return again and again for trail rides and maybe lessons. Instead they made us feel like we were evil criminals and bad humans. This was supposed to be a fun holiday outing! So - go at your own risk. You may have a good experience- as some other reviewers have had - or you may be treated like the worst sort of scum! (Side note FYI - they don’t speak any English)

Me and my boyfriend are both from Canada and used to ride with western saddle. I was a little bit stress and nervous when I saw that it was with classis saddle. The girl who was riding with us was very kind and respectful. She help us got the way to ride classic. She was very patient and she just trot with us when we were ready she adapt herself and the ride to us. I would do it again it was a pleasure! I recommend it a lot 😊! The horse are very in shape and they take care of them a lot.
