Beautiful little village but they need to make some simple improvements
A beautiful little village. We've visted it three times in past few years, twice with an overnight stay. Most recent was in July 21, when the village still looked beautiful but we were very disaappointed by a couple of things. Firstly, in the evenings almost all of the restaurants turn you away if you only want drinks, so it's very hard to find a place for pre or post dinner drinks. The ONLY place we could find where you could have drinks only was the Bar del Poble in the main square which closes at 10pm (the staff are very friendly and helpful there). Secondly, on the day we stayed (a Tuesday) many of the restaurants were closed. However, from walking past them alll we found that NONE of the restaurants displayed their opening days/hours outside - surely a simple thing to do! Even worse was when we asked at the local tourist information office about which restuarants were open that night they had absolutely no idea and could only offer a list of phone numbers so we could call them! As it's such a small village with only 15 restaurants it is surely a simple thing for the tourist information office to research all of their opening days and hours and keep details of this on hand.

    Medieval
One of the most beautiful villages in the north of the country. Its narrow medieval streets and alleys and its walls and towers make it an unmisding place to visit. there are plenty of good restaurants to taste local food but it's better to book before you get there, especially at the weekends.

    An exquisite medieval gem
This is an exquisite little medieval town where I felt l had stepped back in time. Narrow alleys leading to bright squares, flowers tumbling out of walls, bumpy and uneven cobbled streets...Peratallada has it all. There are some beautiful shops, cafés and restaurants here too. Climb the clock tower near the castle free of charge to enjoy the views over the town and to see as far as the sea and the Medes islands. Peratallada captured my heart.

Small village just oriented to tourists. Just arrive in car, you must pay a fee for the parking, it doesn't matter how much time you'll spend in the town. Yes, streets are nice, stone buildings, medieval wall an d so on, but that's all. Everything is closed like the church, of course with the exception of the restaurants and the souvenir shops, you can find a lot, I would say the highest rate of restaurants per square meter in a Catalonian town. It was fun, at 19:15, impossible to find any restaurant to serve just a couple of beers and cokes (we were 4 people), they just wanted to serve dinners to tourists, fun because the covid, practically no tourists at all visiting the village. Very deceiving, a waste of time visiting it, better to visit another town like Castell d'Aro or Santa Cristina d'Aro

First time visit and we were directed to a pay car park. It was the only place you could park at. Was 8.30pm. Pay machines in the car park had no details of the times. As was late in the evening, we thought we didn't have to pay. Normally in Spain it's free after 8pm. Returned to car at 9.30pm to find a fine on our window. The warden was still there. We remonstrated that there was no signage regarding the hours in which you needed to pay. He was very rude and said that you needed to pay up to 10.30pm. He said the local council had made it like this some years ago as if we should have known. I told him.it was our first visit there, to which he just laughed and said it was a nice present to receive on our first visit. Won't be returning. What a scam. Village is nice and worth a look but I'd say many people get caught with parking fines.

We visited Peratallada on a weekday in September and there were surprisingly few people about. We spoke to a local resident who told us that the population of the village year round is only 50 .
Parking was free and there was plenty of space.
I much prefered Peratallada to the more famous nearby village of Pals which,in my opinion , is too exploited.
If you are in the area it is well worth a visit. There is no shortage of bars and restaurants. It is also a photographer's delight.

The medieval village of Peratallada is in a beautiful, rural area and is a stunningly attractive village. With its narrow, cobbled streets it is a magnet for tourists, but after the day trippers have left, it takes on a wonderfully peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. From a practical perspective it has ample car parking and there are several restaurants, tourist shops and places to stay.

We’ve stayed here twice now and it is definitely one of our favourite places in Spain.

We visited 3 medieval towns/villages and this was by far our favorite. We hadn't heard of it so fortunately our driver/guide recommended it. Walking through it was such a treat - around every corner was a postcard view and we had some great food. We're thinking of going back to stay a couple nights next time.

Amazing little village, a place to go and visit to go back in time and imagine how life was before. The place is really well kept, clean well restored. With an amazing restaurant that only opened recently but is well worth a visit as well. The name is El Borinot. Don’t hesitate the food was just amazing !!!

A charming hill town on the Costa Brava that makes a nice day trip from Barcelona. I loved walking the well preserved streets with friends, and climbing the watchtower for a view of the surrounding countryside. However, they could do a better job of presenting the history of the people who lived here over the centuries. It’s a nice looking town that must have a story to tell. Also, keep an eye on the time. If you are a few minutes late getting back to your car in the paid parking, you’ll be greeted with a parking ticket and fine.

Peratellada..suck a wonderful place. The name comes from Pedra Tallada, “Carved stone” ..simply because this is what this town is, a village cut in stone.

A few interesting facts about this incredible medieval town. 1991's Robin Hood movie was filmed in here. The Castle, now privately owned, was build even before 1065 on traces of a Bronze Age settlement.

Not far from Girona and the smaller version, Pals, Peratellada is a must see in Catalonia. If you are into history and old culture and this will not enchant you …I don’t know what else will. A few pictures attached.

Paid but cheap parking and a beautiful terrace restaurant La Roca with excellent Catalan food.

We visited during the off-season and this was perfect because it seemed like we had the entire town to ourselves. We could hear a pin drop as we walked through alleys and tiny roads. There are a number of restaurants in this town so there's no need to hurry away. Stay and have a meal. Great place for a day trip from Barcelona or Girona.
