This dwelling is easy to get to, off an easy trail with no ladders or crawling needed. This is the only dwelling currently open to the public which you do not need a ticket. It's not as beautiful as the 3 ticketed dwellings but worth...More

A fourty five minute round trip from the parking area. Not the easies of hikes, but doable for most people. This is another example of the buildings left behind by the Pueblo indians. You can get up close to the remains. There was a rangers...More

Self guided Tour. When you reach the split in paths to go down in the site, take the right fork. That allows you to get a folio from ranger at the bottom and read from beginning to end. This is pretty accessible, but does require...More

When the early tickets for Long House, Balcony House, and Cliff Palace are sold out, this is a nice little short hike for all. Take plenty of water. Right off the parking lot at Wetherill Mesa..

This is a fairly easy tour to do and it is free with an admission fee into the park. I would recommend it, but make sure to know that it will not be as impressive as some of the other sites in the park.

If you have a few extra hours while at Mesa Verde, this is a great hike to do, especially with a younger family. Our kids (8 and 10) enjoyed the trail, and found the ruins pretty interesting. It was nice to be away from the...More

While not as dramatic as the ranger guided tours, this one shows how the roof of the kiva's would have been built. It is worth the short hike to access but after seeing all the other ranger guided cliff dwellings, it is sort of anti...More

I’m 71 and I can no longer visit Cliff Palace, Long House, or Balcony House. However, Step House is doable if rest breaks are taken. Taking water is a MUST for anyone.
