A beautiful drive with a lot of wildlife. we saw deer, coyotes, birds and lizards. We drove through the remnants of a fire and stopped at many vistas to look at dwellings as well as the valley below. All of it was very picturesque. Make sure to save some time for just driving around and pulling over at the overlooks.

We arrived on an unexpectedly snowy day in the beginning of May and because of the cold, decided to skip the planned tour and just drive. The views on the drive itself were beautiful and interesting (for example the remaining remnants of the forest fire of 2000.) We braved the cold to see a few sites and were so glad... More

Yes this is just a road, but it takes you to stop many places to stop, pullout, take pictures, and see dwellings. Some of the stops agent very exciting, but other spots are amazing! We stopped and explored a few times along the way. A great way to see lots of cool things!!!!

My only regret is that we didn't have an entire day set aside to spend here! Ruins Road is a fantastic way to see the highlights of Mesa Verde if you're short on time, but I would absolutely recommend planning to do some of the tours and such. On the road which I believe took us a couple of hours... More

Pick up a brochure at the Visitor Center before you set out. It gives a lot of context while you are at the various sites. This is an easy drive with a lot of short walks and overlooks with great views.

From this road you can see so many 'Ruins'. The first day we drove down this road, viewing the ruins from the car... the second day we took the time to park and walk this road to get a better look at the ruins [and some really amazing photos]. Plan ahead, take the time to really see this park and... More

This was probably both one of the most beautiful and one of the scariest roads we have ever driven, especially as the sun started setting. You want to give yourself at least two hours for just the drive. It is a big loop around the park. This is not including any time you need to plan on for tours (either... More

We were here 2 days after they closed parts of the park for the off season. The weather was really nice. I wish they would have had the whole park open for us to see but the parts we got to see were interesting. We only got to hike 1 of the trails we wanted to because the others were... More

Take your time to enjoy this beautiful and interesting drive. This drive allows you to walk up to mesa top ruins such as the pit houses and the single level and multi-level pueblos with their kivas and watch towers. Stop and get out at the overlooks to view the cliff dwellings. Take the short walk out to the overlook for... More

A fascinating drive to see how the majority of the dwellings relate to each other. Each viewpoint adds to the mystery of how early Americans not only built in the cliffs but how they got into the coves in the first place. Thoroughly enjoyed this part of the park.
