Stunning views and surroundings. My wife and I decided to visit this place today after looking at photos on the internet and the place is stunning. Beware though, the nearest place to leave the car is 1.8km away and then there is a very steep, rocky and stoney hike before you reach the top of the stairs down to the lighthouse. There are 763 stairs each approximately 12-14 inches tall to reach the lighthouse but it is definitely worth a visit if you're reasonably fit, but do remember going down the steps is the easy bit.

If you are feeling fit it is an enjoyable hike around this location - but it is not an easy stroll and requires some effort. However the views are beautiful on a good day.
We went on a week day when there were very few people around so nice and peaceful. However it was hot and hard work.
Enjoyable if you like a hike and enjoy hard walking.

Starting from Santoña there's a beautiful hike along the cliffs of mount Buciero. The views from the top are stunning. If you're fit I recommend you go down the 700 steps (built by convicts) to the lighthouse. Great place to swim in the Summer! Avoid weekend bc it's a popular hike!

We went with Buciero Natura. As we are not super sportive people we called before to ask if it was difficult. They said it was easy and light. I have hiked a few times and it was by far the most difficult experience I have been through. The stairs were super crowded and at least 50 people all were going up and down (many without masks) and it is seriously impossible to maintain social distancing. The guide was polite but he saw that I couldn’t keep up with the ryrhm and he didn’t wait for us. I got to the kayak exhausted! The guy who helps us to get to the kayak was at least super helpful to help me go in (it is not as easy as it seems) but they left us behind and took the group to explore caves, promised a drink they never offered (which was supposed to be in the middle of the way) and I got really ill and throwing up in the middle of the sea. Took forever to show up support. Once they came they helped me in the boat and literally as soon as I got out of the boat they gave me the backpack and that’s it. Not even asking if I was ok (they knew I was feeling very sick, didn’t offer water, support or to call anyone). Really disappointing.

We spent half of a day having a wonderful hike up to Faro and enjoyed it a lot. it was a hot sunny day and we were rewarded with stunning views on cantabria coast and sea and even managed to dip into chilling waters around the Faro. There is a narrow stairs leading almost up to the water and you can jump into the sea.
If you have enough time, do reserve a day for this hike and go all around the peninsula with a lunch stop at the Faro.

Hard work.... a lot of steady uphill then of course the famous stairs. Great walk all in all and sense of achievement. Lighthouse nothing to write home about though. Drive up past fort along paseo Monte and park at quarry type area. The walk took us 2.5hrs there and back with carrying a four year old most of the way there, but she walked up most of the steps and distance back. Little shade actually at lighthouse, so possibly consider taking an umbrella. Suppose it depends on the time of day!
