Lovely houses! I expected the village to be smaller but it is actually of medium size. It is very hilly and the train station is located on top so I went like 30 minutes downhill to reach the port and then 30 minute uphill back to the train station which was exhausting! It is good for pictures though! Probably would have enjoyed more if I had more time and nice company.

Lovely small town, beautiful scenery as you approach Cudillero. In the town if you cab delight yourself with an astonising views following a couple of pathways although they are quite steep and demanding. Important parking is easy 300 metres before you enter into the town.

Stayed close by, though stayed a mile away and used as a base to explore the area. The area offers good photos as the town in nestled in the cliffs as the road meanders down from the hillside.
Go to the end of the piers for the best views of town.

Food places are expensive, though there are some gems there..

The old port of Cudillero is a must stop if you are in the region.
The fishing boats are no longer anchored there (around the corner now) but the port is still stunning.
many good eating places there and a very unique village by the Cantabria Sea.

The area has great potential to be really pretty BUT is far from it. The area is covered in seagulls waste. Lots of structures are in need of restoration and or a fresh coat of paint. The “Ayuntamiento “. Should make and effort with all that tourist tax income to pressure wash this areas and force citizens to joint in an effort of beatification. After all, this will bring more satisfying tourists/tax revenues.

Take your camera and you will be well blessed with some great opportunities for getting snap happy. Restaurant food is overpriced - they seem largely empty, bar local drinkers - and why would anyone want to pay €35 for paella? I am giving 5* for location and ambience. There is a burger place just as you enter the village - that has reasonable prices.

Driving in from the West involves going down a very narrow two way street which you would not want to have to drive back up. Luckily there is another road past the port which is much easier. The Town itself is pretty run down and shabby but the port is lovely to walk round and it also gives the best views. There is plenty of free parking next to the boats.

Like most people who visit I was very disappointed. The village is nice for a quick photo and that's about it. Restaurants are overpriced and pretty much the same. It wasn't what we expected at all. One good photo is really quite misleading.

The tourist books make this out to be a fantastic little village but I was disappointed with it. Yes it does look cute overall because it is nestled in a narrow valley. But it seems the main point of interest is in the mass of fish restaurants near the bottom of the valley. Lots of them serve the same foods and whilst the set daily menus seem good value for money, go behind the main square and the same food cost a lot less. Also, once you venture beyond the main streets you notice that a lot of the town is run down and dirty.
However, the place was heaving with people, mostly Spanish eating their main meal in the early afternoon.
The harbour area was quite pleasant to walk along, even though it is a commercial fishing port.
So, enjoy the experience but don't believe the hype about the town - it is not that good.

Another example of a very tiny place that is getting loved to death. I am happy I went, but I'd like to visit with about 70% less people. I am not sure about the negative comments about the place being in poor repair, etc. In fact, it seems the tourist boom is spurring on people to keep their little town nice. You can spend quite a lot of time here as there are many walks to viewpoints (all up steep stairs).

If you come by public transport, train or bus, it is a long walk down into the old city and the port. The train station is really quite far. The parking seemed to be a hassle as the little available parking was full and people continued to arrive and keep looking.

The main square restaurants are really expensive... but there are normal priced places if you just look a bit.

I am happy I went, but would like to go again under less crowded conditions.
