New favorite fall apple picking destination!
Nov 2019
I was looking for a place to buy a hard-to-find apple variety, and am really glad I ended up going to Samascott. I drove up with 3 girlfriends, and we had a lovely day wandering around the beautiful farm and exploring all the different produce available. Being able to drive your own car onto the farm is SO convenient, and make exploring so much more accessible to people who have difficulties with mobility. The prices were more than fair, and the variety of produce and products available was amazing.

I noticed a lot of people are complaining about the $5 per person entry fee - I understand if it's a change then it may be a shock, but that seems very reasonable to me and certainly not a "rip off". You are not just paying for produce - go to a farmers market for that. You are paying for the experience of picking your own and getting to be on the farm. They have to maintain the grounds enough so all the visitors will have a good experience. I'm more shocked that they didn't always charge an entry fee!

The best apple orchard ever. (: ( : !
Oct 2019
I went with my uncle . They have many variety more than the grocery store. Also it is not over picked , like most orchards. They are also very kind and not mean . A $5 entry fee is not all that bad, really? I enjoyed that they lowed the amount of apples in pounds you need for the percentage off . It is only $5. They also have good prices . The titanic will strike again.

Pick your own rip off
Sep 2019
It's true, as others are reporting: they DO now charge a $5 fee . . . I have been picking Red Raspberries there for many, many years. I will not be going back again.

Also, you should know: they close the picking fields (orchards) at 4:00PM every day. Can you imagine??? 4 o'clock. As far as I am concerned, they might as well not even open, at that rate. 4 o'clock!!!!!!

Phooey.

$5 per person admission fee
Sep 2019 • Family
They just added a $5 fee per person to enter. Our family of 4 has been coming here 3-4 times a year to pick fruits and vegetables for about 8 years and never had a problem meeting their $5 minimum per person.Today we went and picked 60 lbs of produce and the $14 discount they gave us at check out doesn’t make up for the new $20 fee they charged our family of 4 to drive in. We will be doing our family produce picking elsewhere in the future, plenty of other places that don’t charge an admission fee to pick apples, blueberries, strawberries and some vegetables.

$5 entry fee per person!
Aug 2019 • Family
My family loved coming here 5-10 times a year. It was a favorite Sunday pastime. We would travel 40 minutes from near Saratoga to enjoy picking our own vegetables and fruit, then stopping by their store for ice cream.

They recently (the past few days) implemented a $5 per person fee for ENTRY into the fields. Like we went there a couple weekends ago no entry fee and now it is implemented.

This is a ridiculously steep. We were baffled by this. I believe the policy used to be $5 minimum per person, which my family was happy to oblige by. This was never a problem for us.

I’m not sure if people abused the pick your own, or they didn’t enforce the $5 minimum per person for pick your own, This change in policy is the final straw. We will not be returning.

I like pyo to get me out of the house. Though this place is far for me, I liked the variety. Over the years they have gone down hill with their seasonal hires. They stopped making certain things after opening a market down the road, increased their prices, and even search cars. I understand it's due to theives (stealing produce) but I'm going to look closer to home next season.

Rip offs! Overcharged us. Kicked us out 20 minutes early and charged us for not getting the minimum. Will never go back!

Apple Picking
Nov 2018 • Couples
This is the most amazing family run orchard and farm. The variety of apples is extensive and other fruits, berries and veggies of all sorts are available for visitors to pick. Prices are reasonable and they have the best homemade ice cream in the county!

Don't miss stopping at the farm for their Cider Doughnuts, Yum!
Oct 2018 • Solo
Samascott Orchards and the farm down the other road should not be missed when visiting the Kinderhook, NY area. They are working productive farms with interesting grocery stores to buy everything you need for the home or a picnic.

These are not quaint farm stands but commercial stands with lots of product to buy. Do not miss their bakery department with their homemade cider doughnuts that are fifty cents each. They are excellent! Perfectly fried and loaded with sugar. I bought two for the trip home and they did not make it past a mile.

It is a nice place to get something to eat when visiting the historical sites.
