About
The Columbia County Historical Society collects, preserves, interprets, and presents the history, heritage, and culture of Columbia County, New York, and serves residents of all eighteen Columbia County towns and, the city of Hudson. Seasonal exhibits display selections from the Historical Society's paintings--including portrait and landscape paintings, furniture and decorative arts collections, costumes and textiles, important and unique maps, archives and genealogical materials relating to Columbia County's heritage. The museum has a small art gallery downstairs and several connecting galleries upstairs. The ground floor also houses the CCHS Research Library, also open to the public, and where authors, journalists, historians and others study rare material not found elsewhere.

Lovely exhibition

This is such a cool spot for a short stop for some history.
They have two beautiful exhibitions up for the summer.
One baskets from the Shaker Museum on loan. Beautifully installed on the ground floor.
And Artifacts and Art from the county upstairs.
They also have two beautiful Dutch properties that are open to the public.
Well worth a stop on you way through Kinderhook.

Great Museum

We stopped here just before closing but enough time to view their permanent exhibits. The staff was very accommodating. They lady who brought us to the exhibits was very kind and knowledgeable. She was very happy to answer our questions about the exhibits and the historical items in each. A great experience.
